Missouri St Match

Not to get ahead of ourselves, but next weekend we play ILL St. They are 6-1 this year and knocked off #14 Illinois on Friday, 3-1. They play #RV UCF today and #7 Marquette on Sunday. That’s one tough tournament. Gonna help our RPI.

Also, in front of a crowd of 3850. That’s about 1200 more than we had at Frericks for Michigan. It’s great to see that kind of support.

UD dominates set 1 25-12. Now let’s see if we learned to put teams away in a dominate way. Two weeks ago at Miami we did not. after dominating the first set we let the Redbirds play close the last two sets, although we did sweep. As Chris R says, learn to turn the screws when you’re a better team.

Our errors were “ok”. We had 7, but 3 in 5 points at 4-2 so it didn’t hurt us.

25-19 Flyers in set 2. Got a little sloppy late.

UD takes 2nd 25-19. It wasn’t that close. At 21-15, UD gave MO St 3 of their last 5 points. But pretty clean up to that point. We had 8 errors. We have 5 blocks in 2 sets. That’s a move in the right direction. UD hitting .371 for the match. That’s as good as it gets.

Need to come put strong and finish this off.

Say What? Weber St beats SMU 3-0. Weber St is 3-0 this weekend. Maybe we should stay and play them later tonight. Never would I have said Weber St would “win” this tournament. They play Mo St tomorrow.

UD sweeps 25-18. We got a little sloppy at the end again, but it was never in doubt.

Alli, Jamie, Racheal and Olivia had a good match. If you can get 3 hitters (or 4 in this case) going you are going to be hard to beat.

Also had 8 blocks...so finished weekend averaging obout 2.65. Major improvement over our season average of 1.79 going into the weekend.

Crazy-crazy tournament. Weber St and SMU...who knew?
