I would take UD and 9.5 any day of the week. Archie's teams and BG's teams always tend to play close games. I don't think this 1 will be any different.

My fear is that BG will look at this game like he did with us when we played Pitt, Marquette, etc...and just unleash them to run and pressure us for 94 feet and 40 minutes. Assuming GT runs, we get smashed. I hope to see the 3-man weave from the opening tip and a slow down game...we have a chance if it's slowed down.

I hope BG and GT run, run, run.
That leads AM/UD to what they want and
elimanates a lot of the offensive weave which drives
me crazy and does not lead to enough good shots.
Go Flyers!
p.s. I'll take the 9.5 points too

Georgia Tech is Bigger Than UD
so I would think BG will try to score in the paint where they have an advantage. An up tempo game may favor UD's quick perimeter guys. Part of BG's defense is not to take too quick of a shot but seek the best shot available. It will be interesting to compare UD's "D" to Georgia Tech's approach. I think Archie is a very good bench coach with a good "feel" for the game and he has a good staff that makes positive adjustments.

Yes, I agree 100%. Slow down GT's offense and transition game. UD should play zone defense.

AM's half court offense is better than BG's half court offense was. Force BG into a slowdown, half court game.

Not going to happen. I see this every year on this board. Just like BG didn't play it, I don't see Archie playing zone...ever.

You beat me to it. Play zone against BG! it works every time.
I really hope Oliver has a huge game and leads UD to an upset.

FWIW, these 3 sites have it at GT -7.5 now. I guess the over/under is coming out later today.

BG may look at us like the Pitt game, but I don't think GT players will be as pumped up for the game as UD was against Pitt.

I'm taking GT and laying the points for $5,000.
We have no way of stopping their big man and we haven't come close to facing a defense like we will see tonight. Hopefully it will be a good learning experience for us-either way.

I hesitate to put this out there because I don't know how involved it would get but I think it would be fun to have a running contest like Predict the Score but against the spread. Everyone start with $1000 and you make whatever bets you want. It could be self scoring with everyone keeping tracking of their own account. Once you get down to $0 you are out. Thoughts?

If it were that easy why didn't BG "unleash" the boys 30 games + in the eight years he was at Dayton? It only happened vs BCS schools and in the nothing-to-lose NIT.

Isn't the goal to predict the correct outcome so that if you are correct, you end up with more money than you started with?

I asked that same question for his last 5 or 6 years! And have no idea why he insisted on running the weave with the athletes on his teams.

Amen. I think practically everybody on this board was asking the same question. I really don't think the solution was all that complicated, but BG simply refused to change. He was extremely stubborn.

Don't like UD at all tonight...Getting nothing from their BIGS will put pressure on the guards to try to do to much.....BG would like nothing more than to wipe UD with the floor and he'll put lots of pressure for 40 minutes...Not convinced UD has a real PG yet that's ready for this...

Maybe this should be the new Predict the Score thread. Seems to be a little more "truth" here. I wonder how many folks picking the Flyers tonight would back it up with their own cash? I just don't see us ready to play this type of game yet. I hope I'm wrong.

Kind of interesting checking out the GTech board, stingtalk.com I believe. The general consensus over there seems to be that 9.5 points is far too many, they see this as a tough struggle and a really good OOC matchup to get them ready. Kind of a different attitude towards UD on that board than you typically see prior to our matchups w/ BCS teams OOC.

The Sagarin predictor has Geogia Tech 84.09, UD 78.96.
Tech by 5.15.
