SC Top Ten Alert
Our very own Flyers found their way onto last night's ESPN Sportscenter Top 10.
#9 - Darrel Davis breakaway, behind the back pass to Kendall Pollard for the two handed SLAM!

Did it get bumped out by Clemson allowing Syracuse to shoot a wide open 3 for the win?

Rats! It's not there! Bummer! That was so cool! I replayed it several times on my recorder after I got home from the game.

I've been a fan for 13 years now and that play by Darrel was top 5 plays during that time for me.

My favorite no look pass was Pierre to Wehrli at GW in a heartbreaking loss. Pierre is patient and draws 2 defenders with his back to the basket, throws it over his shoulder to a wide open Bobby Wehrli for what ends up being a no look reverse layup that brings Dayton to within 2 under 3:00 minutes to play. Great pass, crazy finish. Such a great play that the Flyers needed to get to overtime.

I think the fact that Pollard even remotely thought he was going to get that pass and caught it full stride is remarkable. You would think he would have been focused on the rim for a possible rebound.

The St. Joes players putback dunks were much much much more impressive to me. As a guard myself I can do what baby D did. Never in my lifetime will I be able to dunk the ball, much less with that much authority.

DD gave me a walk down memory Lane.
When I speak about the 50's I realize there are only a few of you who actually can recall seeing those players play.
But in the 50's there was a point guard named Don Lane who played with 7' Bill Uhl. To this day I can recall Don Lane on the fast break making that same behind the back bounce pass feed to a trailing Bill Uhl for the dunk--just like DD did. It happened in 1956.
Now, I'm also sure that it looked like it was in slow motion next to the pace of play last night, and that SC highlight in particular.
Lane was a 5th round pick in 1958 by the Knicks. Uhl was a 5th round pick by the Rochester Royals in 1956.

Folks: I witnessed Scott Skiles execute one of the most exciting passes ever. This was in the 1986 NCAA in Dayton. Check out around the 3 minute mark.

Ernie D played for the old Buffalo Braves and I was fortunate enough to play before a Braves game at the Aud in 1975 in high school. I saw him make a behind the back pass the full length of the court, it was amazing.

I am somewhat confused...did UD appear on this top 10 plays or not?
IMO - it was one of the best passes in UD history...not the most important mind you, but one of the best.

It was meaningful to me not because of the difficulty required, but because I root the hardest for DD and I am the happiest when he does well.

I think it speaks to Darrell's new found confidence. He made that pass on pure trust that Pollard would be there and be alert. He was rewarded this time. Pollard was were he should have been.

Pollard since he has regained his health has made himself available and alert. Huge gain for team confidence that he can finish. Seniors improving with each game. Need RI win.

It was in the top ten at one point but they edit that as they do different versions.
I laugh when they show someone with the ball and at the last second he turns his head and makes a pass. the announcer says "what a no look pass" I seriously doubt if the defender had any clue that DD was going to pass the ball
And it was very impressive that pollard could gather the ball and dunk it with very little warning. He expected dd to pull it off

Darrell and Kendall are both playing great. With a newly confident DD and perhaps Josh headed back to 15 minutes a game..... who knows!!!
Exciting Times, as we get ready for the stretch run here, starting with URI!
