Dyshawn has been off his game for the past 2 games. Which only means he's going to wake up just in time to beat the Zags.

One thing BG always did that frustrated me was when behind he wouldn't bring much pressure. Didn't really come after them tonight.

This game was a bit of a clinic. Despite the 72 points, except for the first 8 minutes of the game, the defense really showed up. The quick hands created 19 turnovers and this created a lot of cheap baskets...and guess what? We finished most of our layups tonight!!!!

Highpoint?

Beating an ACC team on the road has to be the highpoint, or at least "a" highpoint of AM's tenure to date......right?

Great win!

Go Flyers!

Anyone else glad that, of the 4 frosh who came to UD in the fall of 2010, DMO is the one who stayed? Loyalty. Dedication. Character. DMO has all of that - squared!

Thanks, DMO!

Too early to give up on Big Kav

He wasn't good tonight but big Matt will have some shining moments this season. Don't give up on him fans.

i'm not rooting against him, but with better options to have on the floor i predict his minutes quickly getting smaller and smaller. which was proven tonight. But i hope he does play well.

Not going to harp on that topic all night because such a great win and has me looking forward to this team's potential.

I hope Kav gives us great minutes going forward, but tonight Scott played so well and so much better than any post player we've had in quite a while, that going forward I'd try to give him as many minutes as his endurance and foul trouble can handle. Really impressive game tonight - and I only saw the second half.

It's amazing how good we can be when at least 1 big is playing well.

Also, I loved how their announcers were running down the list of UD wins over GTech. Then they beat us in 2000, and then in 2005,.........

Scott played really well in the 2nd half against SFNY. His buckets early in the 2nd half really steadied the team and gave them confidence. Flyers finally threw it inside and good things happened.

From Yahoo sports:

"Over the last seven seasons, the Flyers have won 20 of their last 39 games against major conferences. Beating Georgia Tech gave Dayton, which plays in the Atlantic 10, five straight wins over Atlantic Coast Conference opponents."

rollo, what advice did you give to Archie? I must have missed it. He must have listened to me also because I made a post to get in the passing lanes to steal the ball more often and the Flyers did that tonight to create turnovers.

I loved the way Oliver set the tone early on defense and it was contagious because everyone hustled on the defensive end. Best game to date. Now lets go get the Zags and have a successful trip in Maui.

FLyers have done a great job of helping/hedging and recovering. Gtech tried to force play into the gaps and paid for it.

I thought the record against BCS foes was 20-9. That would make it 20 out of 29.

one thing that really stood out to me is that there was no stopping the ball at the top of the key the Flyers really moved it from side to side without the ball being stopped as it had in past years.

Several people on the Ga Tech forums talking about the Dayton fans and how loud and numerous they were compared to the Tech students and general fan base.

There were 6,283 announced tonight -- probably closer to 4,000 actually in the seats. This was one of Tech's better non-con home games on their schedule. We know when BG comes to Dayton there will be 13,500 in the stands.

Im sure BG is happy in Atlanta and has BCS resources and is coaching in the best basketball conference in the country by far. Its a sweet gig no doubt.

But a little part of me wonders if BG, just for a fleeting moment, looked in the stands at those Red sweatshirts (including a few Red Scare t-shirts I saw) and thought to himself, "I can replicate a lot of things here, but I will never replicate the passion in the stands. It'll never be like it used to be."

Chris I had season tickets for the "Lethal Weapons Three" team that went to the final four and lost to the Runnin' Rebels. The excitement and passion was there, equal to anything at UD. This difference between UD fans and just about any other fandom is that we bring the noize come hell or high water.

And thats the whole ball of wax. Any program with Oliver, Kenny, and Scott is gonna attract the fans, but if you need Final-4s to fill the seats, what do you really have that others dont. You're like everyone else.

Dayton just showed us why they ran off Brian Gregory, and they are laughing at us!

Kicked our ass, in our house, as an underdog!

Feel bad for Tech, but only up to a point. Nobody felt sorry for Dayton the least bit when we were #14 in the country and Chris Wright went down. Or when we were kicking butt and Lowry goes down and ruins the Dreadlock Posse backcourt. Or when Benson goes down and tanks our interior game. Or when CJ and Charles Little were injured and missed several games.

Perhaps I feel sorry for Gregory however. All of those injuries were on his watch too.

Didn't 'like' that one . . . because:

1) Dayton didn't "run off Brian Gregory" - that's an asinine assumption.

2) If you don't like getting your "ass kicked, in our house", maybe you should actually show up and cheer for your team. Is it really "your house" if there'e no one in it?

Just finished watching the GT game replay on ESPN3 about 3 times. Interesting what you don't catch the first time around when it's live.

*Our 3 young guards are going to be a nightmare for opponents in the not-to-distant future. They are quick, smart, and understand the game. IMO Kyle Davis is the most court savvy of the three. He's also thicker in build than he first appears. Of course they will make mistakes along way, but their upside is huge.

*The physical strength of our team is much better than last year, but still just drawing closer to the opposition. We have some big butts who still haven't learned to use them in the lane properly.

*Our collective court savvy is amped up a notch with Archies recruits over previous.

*We can strike quickly and and often in spurts which means we shouldn't be out of many games for long. Everyone is being conditioned to look downfloor. We should begin to blow out weaker opponents.

This win was probably equal to one of our Charleston wins last season early. So we can't extrapolate too much from it. But we have a lot more developing weapons than last year so I'm anxious to see how we do in Maui.

I'll add this to what SDF posted above. I didn't get to see the game, just listen to it on the radio, watching some of the replay today, and one area this team has made tremondous strides in is the outlet pass.

I think I've seen 4-5 solid outlet passes that lead to transition shots in the 1st half. This team struggled with that against IPFW and really haven't been that good at it in a while. I'm starting to see why this team scored so many points off turnovers. They have a bunch of really good slashers, and if you can get them the ball quickly in transition they're extremely hard to defend.
