Dayton got some help from teams on our schedule. As of Friday am, Figgie rpi has us sitting at 30. We started the week on Monday at 34. So someone "down-schedule" won some matches to help move us up. We needed it because we will take some hits this weekend.

LaSalle sits at 256 this morning and their SOS is ranked 278. Their record is 10-13. I have been following UD volleyball for about 10 years and LaSalle has never won this many matches and for most of those years they finished with a 300+ rpi. So they are having a very good year and now that they are fully funded with 12 scholarships and a good young coach it appears this program is headed in the right direction. This makes the a10 stronger from top to bottom and helps UD.

All that said, their current numbers will be rolled into our math twice in the next couple weeks and that will bring down our rpi. Hopefully other teams we have already played will continue to win to help offset our weaker schedule to finish out the season. X is playing better and jumped up above an rpi of 100 for the first time this year. SLU has their injured OH back. They have the best SOS in the a10 and they should win all the rest of their matches except the UD match. The target for UD is to finish with an rpi of 42 or better to secure an at large bid if we need it. Sitting at 30 versus 35 this morning makes me more confident we can do that.

It will be good to be home this weekend. I was wondering last weekend of if the travel was wearing on the team. Red Scare will be in the house and fans will probably get a chance to see some of the younger players tonight. Take care of business and move on to Sunday.

UD wins the first 25-13. It was close until about 8-8 when UD went on a tear. Us hitting over 400 for a team.

Much closer set but UD wins 25-21. The biggest thing is LaSalle blocked the heck out of us. They had 4 blocks that set. They are not a good blocking team. They average 1.43 blocks per set for the year. So they either figured out where Jane was going to send the set or we were making errors on our side giving the hitters no pray against their block. Hard to tell just from stats. I still have no video.

UD wins 3rd 25-13. Good to see us bounce back and take control in the last set. LaSalle had 7 total blocks, which is way over their average, but we seemed to right the ship in this area in the 3rd set.

All our OHs hit above 200 with Jess and Jamie hitting in the high 200s. Both middles had huge nights hitting over .560 which is just flat out great. Margo and Maggie each had great nights getting under digs.

On to Sunday and Duquesne. SLU won the first set 25-10. That didn't surprise me. Duquesne has a good record because the have one of the weakest schedules in the country. They aren't as good as their record appears. And SLU knows it's now or never to get on a roll. With their other OH coming back
last week, they are a much better team.
