No leadership on the roster either, Durrell and Cunningham don't play hard on the defensive end.

Don’t know if this is sarcasm or criticism. The players who were active on the roster last year, on average, have improved. The biggest problems are (1) there’s a huge difference between the player who’s improved the most (probably Trey) and the player who’s actually regressed (X), and (2) there are only 5 guys on this year’s roster who played last year. In a program like ours, continuity is huge, and 5 returning players out of 13 available scholarships doesn’t equal “continuity”.

Defense was not near what it has been lately! We never get in the face or close out soon enough on the three point shooters! When we had the lead in the first half we should have increased the defensive pressure. Instead we eased up.

I was at the game today, as I live in St Louis. This team maybe the worst passing team I have ever seen, bad fundamentals from not blocking out to not closing off the baseline. I also noticed a lot of poor foot work which put them out of position on defense.

At a different level of play quality, but I went to the UD/SLU game in St. Louis the year that Chaifetz opened. IIRC, we were in the Top 25, SLU was unranked, and we lost by 10. Equally embarrassing and painful, but for different reasons.

Well, TL is averaging 9/5 up from 0/0. Cunningham is at 16 / 9 up from 6 / 3. DD is at 16.5 / 4 / 3, up from 5.5 / 2 / 1. XW is at 5.5 / 3 down from 8 / 5 but he's been injured for much of the year.

But apart from the sanitation, the medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, the fresh-water system, and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?

We have ~50% of our minutes being played by freshmen / people who did no play college minutes last year. Not 5 star freshmen, just freshmen. 17.5% of minutes are being played by a senior, and that senior is honestly more of a role player than a team leader.

Yes, they have poor passing and footwork and intensity and fundamentals and team cohesion and shot selection. What, exactly, do we expect to happen here??

Defense, defense, defense. Defense is #243 in the country. Offense which is too often maligned is #69.

Ranking of Dayton offenses the last 4 years.
(1) 2017 #53 in the country scoring 111.9 points per 100 possessions (competition adjusted)
(2) 2018 #69 in the country scoring 110.8 points per 100 possessions
(3) 2015 #75 in the country scoring 109.2
(4) 2016 #146 in the country scoring 106.6

Take out VCU (best) game with 1.41 points per possession and Miss St. (worst) with .82 points per possession and virtually no change in 2018 ranking. Goes from 110.8 to something like 110.6. Also please note (1) above had Seniors Cooke (NBA), Kyle Davis (G-League), Pollard (G-League), and Scoochie (Australian Pro). Replace them with 2 Freshman Crutcher and Jordan Davis, 1 Sophomore Trey who played basically zero last year, and Cunningham who also played very little and have the same offensive output is simply amazing. Dare I say, this is great coaching!

Defense is abysmal, but AG has a history of 9 years of outstanding defenses at the college level.

Let's stop the red herring about offense and timeouts (although I agree he should have called them). The defense is the issue.

We've dropped from 198 to 316 in possessions per game on offense. Slower pace this year and fewer possessions is less of a chance to score

I can give a pass to freshman, but this year, a significant number of poor passes have come from Crosby, XW, and DD. Not really acceptable from those three.

More impressive results in 2018 than 2017; rather of course have 2017 team. Looking at statistics, I was shocked 2018 offensive points per possession was only slightly down from 2017. Again, Cooke (Sr.), Pollard (Sr.), Scoochie (Sr.) and Davis (Sr.) versus Jordan Davis (Frosh), Cunningham (Jr.), Crutcher (Frosh) and Landers (So.) and ONLY dropping from 111.9 points per 100 possessions to 110.8 is amazing.

But slower pace is smart with bad defense. Want to limit possessions on both sides and make the game fewer possessions. Don't see how this is a negative.
