The turning point was that horrible pass by Daryl Davis. This is on him in my opinion!!!!!!!

Key to beating Dayton - Jack up threes every time down the court and we'll let you hit 50%

The Flyers switch too fast on those ball screens and they center hedge isn't working. Until they fix that, indeed the three-ball will be available. You can't win a game in big-time basketball when you get four points from your two shooting guards.

Okay putting all the hype aside we are not as good as we think we are. Last 4 games have proven that. Win two games by 2 pts each, lose at SJ and now a loss at home. Will we stay in the top 25, depends on who else loses. Duke went down to L'vlle those were #18 and #20.
Think it is the right decision to rest pollard as most pundits say Dayton is in, we just blew our 4 seed. Could be a 8/9 seed now. Unless we lose out we should not have to worry about being the last team in.
Another year where we can't win the A-10 outright. Ball was in our court (more ways than one) and we couldn't get the job done.
Maybe Archie won't be as hot an item now.
And unfortunately we just let Martelli win the argument as to who the best team in the A-10 is.

Apparently can't win without Pollard. Something needs to change . . .

Some thoughts:
Their #21 was better than our #21 today and imo was the difference in the game.
We need Pollard back desperately. Werhli is useless out there and Miller is so soft his nickname should be Charmin.

The A-10 has great guard play. Today their guards were far better than ours. We won the battle in the paint but our guard situation, especially the 2-guard, needs a complete re-evaluation and re-thinking on defending the ball screens. We will likely face 5 or 6 great guards in the A-10 tournament. We better figure out how to defend them.

As you know AF we don't always agree, but you hit the nail on the head with this one.

Who would have though a month ago we would have depth problems? The discussions were who would sit. Now we end up playing Bobby huge minutes in two key games. Bobby is a nice kid and played slightly better today, but not someone who can contribute to the #15 team. If Steve and Pollard are not in there we are not that good.

Pierre played a solid game. This loss is not on him. DD and SM are getting KP's minutes, and they are both a significant drop off. We need KP back. If he is seriously hurt our season is going to keep going south.

He did not play solid on the defensive side of the floor. Wright outplayed him. When we are missing Pollard, we can't afford to have the other team's SF outplay ours and that is what happened.

Bingo, Tommy! Their backcourt outscoring ours by a gazillion to one was the big difference in today's game. And for as much as people seem to be crucifying Pierre today, he wasn't the one assigned to guard Adams or Posley. Can't let the opponent's backcourt outscore your backcourt by 25 and expect to win.

St. Joes learned that lesson today as well against Davidson, 35 pts is a lot of points. When you are hot you are hot, when not well we know how that goes.
Who will be at full strength and hot at tourney time, that's when it all counts, the rest is window dressing.....although I do like window dressing.

I don't know if this metric is readily available anywhere, but UD's offensive efficiency with McElvene seemed off-the-charts today. When he was in and involved, offensively UD looked dangerous, whether it be McElvene dominating in close or quickly kicking out when double-teamed. It's a shame he could only play 18 minutes.

Yeah, Big Steve's +/- today had to be either the best on the team or 2nd. Not sure whose was worst, but there had to be a few candidates for that.

Yes, Big Steve had the best +/- today....with a +1. (per40=+2.32)
Worst with a -7 was Pierre and Darrell Davis. Sam Miller, had a team worst per40 of -27.75. (-4)

Thanks, Figgie. And just curious - between the two Davis boys, what was the difference in +/- per 40? Again - just curious.

Just checked the box score from yesterday. One of the stripes was McCarthy. Pretty sure there was a game at The Arena earlier this year that he officiated where I was less than impressed with the "quality" of his work. I'll have to check it out.

I am sure the coaches are working on it, but on defense they need to teach Steve to go almost vertical backwards, and to not leave his feet on a ball fake. Great shot blockers get their body out of the way of the dribbler and swipe the ball up high from the side. Steve lets guys run into him, which they will gladly do.
