I just caught wind of this:
https://www.espn.com/womens-college-...-toxic-program
She had turned VCU into an up-tempo A10 title contender that gave UD trouble, then took the Minnesota job. But she didnt stick around there long and left for Texas Tech. Reported player abuse and such.
Dont know if Barnie can corroborate this, but I thought she had a similar reputation at VCU when she was there -- sometimes went to the edge and maybe over it. Obviously MINN was a much better job with way more money so she probably left for all the right reasons, but I wonder if VCU was also thinking they may have gotten rid of a cancer. If I remember when she was at Minnesota she had a ton of players transfer out too in her short time there. Sure when you change culture that can happen but I think this was more than that.
If nothing else, I think you have to give Shauna credit for creating a family atmosphere. She can get animated on the sidelines (and at times for good reason), but it seems like in all the off-court interactions b/t her, her staff, and players, they are extremely tight-knit groups. The family angle is certainly the thing you see her selling first and foremost to recruits.
