Vegas Line Dayton vs VCU
The current line for Dayton vs VCU is Dayton by 2 over VCU.

VCU will obviously be very hungry, they are sort of on the bubble.

Look for DP to be pumped. The arena should be wild. Anyone know if there is a redout or towel deal?

Flyers have not covered the spread in their last 7 games (1 push).
This doesn't mean they'll cover tomorrow, but very very few teams go on an 8 game cover or no cover streak.

We've won 4 straight "Senior Night" games, all of them pretty comfortably since the SLU debacle in 2011.

Opinion
In my opinion,..opinion,....we need this game in order to get into the Dance. Of course, winning the A10 tournament would do it. I am assuming that won't happen and I'm not at all confident that the Flyers can win two in the tournament. Thus, if we lose to VCU and win only one or two in the A10, then I think we are a bubble team, big time.
Another point I haven't heard. Last year UD was the last team in and played the first game at the Arena. I cannot see the NCAA committee allowing that to happen again. To get in we've got to be better than the last one or two.

If Pollard is indeed feeling good and Archie can get the players to play with intensity and within the flow of the game, I don't see why we can't go on another 8 to 10 game winning streak.

UAC, we are a lock. Even if we lost the next two games we are still a lock and it's really not even that close. Relax and enjoy the remaining games.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but consider this: the only major bracketologist who had us out last year was Jay Coleman (Dance Card). This year, using his same formula, he has us at #22, a full 26 positions above the bubble cut line. We are in, and it's not close.

If I was on the committee we'd be in every year. I am just conscious of two things: 1) The committee (and pollsters) understandably pay a lot of attention to what a team has been doing recently. And we all know that about two weeks ago UD was ranked 15th...and now we're barely picking up a vote in either poll. That's over a two week span. Further, I recall last year at about this time the consensus on this board was that the "Flyers are in, no sweat, piece of cake"....only to learn that we were the last team in and had UConn won its last game we would not have made it. We were overly confident about how we were viewed by those that count.
Those things are what is driving my very cautious thinking. We are 23-6/13-4, ...24-6/14-4 would be a really great record...so would 23-7/13-5. What worries me is that if we lose to VCU most of those losses will have come recently...in the last two weeks, in fact. To my mind that will matter a lot more to the committee than if our losses were less concentrated in the last two weeks of the season....accounting for a rather precipitous decline in the minds of people that count (#15 to unranked w/ essentially no votes in just two weeks.)
A win against a top opponent like VCU leading to a finish near the very top of the A10 will provide the breathing room that I think we lack at the moment. Just opinion.....but a strong finish would very nice.

If we're in trouble then so is Iowa...so since we beat Iowa and they aren't in trouble, neither are we.

Man, I hope you're right. But, where will we be if we lose to VCU and lose the first game of the A10 tournament? The picture can change quickly. Two weeks ago the Flyers were ranked 15th. Sagarin has us 49th.
Just beat VCU!

Another factor to dance is how the teams within arms reach fare
in the coming week.
However, we certainly can make travel plans if we win 2 more games, but lose the next two and we're still in?!? That 2-5 in the last 7 games will get lots of attention from the selection committee.

I agree 100%. Then next 2-3 games make all the difference in the world. Lose the next 2, while I believe we are probably in, gives us a poor seeding at best and if left out, the selection committee could easily say "Flyers lost 5 of last 7 and only 2 wins during that period were to +100 RPI teams and then just barely wins."
Win the next couple games and the seeding could take us back to the 6-7 range. There is still work to be done. I don't want to see UD "Last four in" and/or having to do a play-in game like last year. And don't kid yourself, anything is possible with the mildly corrupt NCAA selection process.

Glad I'm not gambling on the Flyers...it is unbelievable with such a small spread we get the win but didn't cover.
