Charlotte Game Thread
Let's Go Baby! No looking ahead to Xavier... let's go to 22-2! GO UD!
One thing, Mickey and Paul need to step up with MJ under the weather.

I'm watching the WHIO streaming video. So far so good, but these guys have not been very reliable in the past. If anyone knows of an alternate way to watch this one, please post a link.

Cox Broadcasting (owner of Channel 7) has a station in Charlotte, so that might help.

Does Charlotte ever miss? If they're in zone, we're not even making the effort to go inside. Nice and 1 by CL, and Mack has 2!

That offensive foul on CJ was kinda bogus. KH was blocking out his guy and moved him into CJ's path and the guy flopped and the ref fell for it.

3-8 from the FT line
not good when your 2 PG's shoot less than 65% from the line

Dayton 3/8 at the FT line. Charlotte at 10/20 from the field has cooled off slightly, but it still could be lower. Might start to see even more zone with Mack and Jones both in at 2 fouls.

I grew up in upstate new york.. and CJ reminds me of a more athletic Mike Gansy (St. Bona/WVU)... and for those who don't know Mike Gansy that is a huge compliment. They both have a nose for the basketball and can score. I cannot wait to watch this kid for the next 3.5 years.

RL had a bad angle for the oop and wasn't even looking to see a guy was standing there. Can't do that. Glad Jones has 3, now lets get Mack and Coles their 3rds as well.

Rob needs to calm down just a bit and get under control. He's a huge asset to the team, but he's having a rough stretch right now.
ie, Ally oop off the top of the backboard, then threw it right back to them the next time he touched the ball.

this MJ ailment is proving one thing that most of us have already known for awhile... Chris Johnson should have been playing major minutes and should get more down the stretch.
(and to avoid confusion, i'm not saying those minutes should have come at the expense of Marcus, just that CJ should be playing major minutes for us)

Great block by CJ, but there is another example of Charlotte just bumping and hacking our guys to the ground and no fouls being called.

He started his career with St. Bonas and was part of WVU that either made it to the elite 8 or final four. He was an amazing player.
I hope CW is alright. I love that guy.

We are not shooting freebies well and playing stupid down the stretch. We need to play to the strengths.

That's 4 fukkkkkkkking games in a row that Gregory has had Warren in playing for the last shot of a half and they have yet to get a decent look.

Sometimes you just gotta wonder why our worst shooter takes it upon himself to get the last shot of the half instead of trying to create for someone else. Frustrating.
Flyers doing alright on offense. But not blocking out and not hitting their freethrows. If they'd do those two things we'd be up 12-15 points.
Let's go. Gotta turn it up fellas.

Love it run the clock down so our last play involves London and Kurt. Charlotte could have taken their team off the court and those two would not have scored. Why not run some picks and free up CJ or Fab? We are silly game after game when holding the ball for the last shot.

Charlotte's shooting finally cooled down. 60% for the first 16 shots--33% for the last 12. Our defense is wearing them down.
What's up with Rob. He's playing at warp speed and it's not working for him.

Charlotte has, what, four guys with 3 fouls? Attack the hoop! Really want to see us start the 2nd half on fire! Eye of the tiger!

No one can make excuses for Kurt. He's not finishing, he need more from our center. Man, he's not a good FT shooter. Having him get fouled was a turnover.

I'm relatively pleased with the first half. Charlotte started out on fire, but only had a 3 or so point lead. As they cooled off we took control a bit.
If we can come out and win the first 4 minutes, I think we can win by 10-12. If Charlotte comes out lighting it up like the beginning of the game, it'll go to the final minute.

That seems like a pretty selective memory. I distinctly recall the last game where CW took the last shot of the half, missed it, and MJ had a put back.
The last home game, RL had the last half shot and didn't get a clean look.
We can go back even further if you want, but it isn't just LW not being able to get a good clean look. We were spoiled with BR being able to create space, it's not going to happen as much this year.

Really liked the quick pick and pop by Luke for 3. Took it with 45 on the shot clock so we were guaranteed to get the rock back. We didn't take advantage but we did get a 2 for 1.

I hope CW is alright. I love that guy.

none of those teams made the final four. he was on the Belein coached Pittsnogle club that bowed out in the elite 8 to Louisville in 2005, after WVU had a huge lead over U of L most of the game.
gansey was just a gamer, flat out.
