Dayton to a 6?
Obviously this is a moot post if Dayton doesn't do their part (win A10 tourney)...BUT
1. Don't we want all the projected* 6's & 7's to lose their next game as of today?
2. Doesn't that help UD "move up" to a higher seed, granted they take care of business in Pittsburgh?
3. OR, are all those teams already "locked in" at those respective seeds?
6's
-Maryland - play 3/10
-Wisconsin - play 3/10
-SMU - play 3/10
-St. Marys - LOSS to Gonzaga
7's
-Iowa St. - play 3/9
-Va. Tech - play TODAY 7p
-Miami - play TODAY 12p
-Creighton - play 3/9
Whats the consensus here? Thanks.

Put me in the (small) group who think an A10 Tournament championship makes us a 6. I don't see any of those team listed above (except maybe Maryland) winning their conference tournament...in fact, I don't see any making their Finals. With that said, an A10T Championship gives us 2 days of exposure the others won't get which I royally believe will be enough to sway the Committee to move us over them.
So let it be written.
So let it be done.

I think we have a chance at a 6 if we win the A10. I think another win over VCU en route to title would make a 6 a decent chance. If we take Rhody in the semis and VCU in the finals, I believe you can book a 6 seed.
I don't believe an A10 tourney title without those quality victories this weekend is enough of a boost to our resume to get to a 6-seed (if Rhody and VCU were to be upset along the way).

Add me to the list that says that a 6 is doable.
We are a 7 now:
USA Today
Washington Post
Bracket Matrix
On another thread, it was mentioned that our seed will not be affected by the championship game on Sunday, should we advance that far.
I think it really depends on how the other 6's and 7's do. If there is a tie, it will certainly not go to us, that is for sure.

Had we beat GW and won the A10 tournament, we were a lock for a 6. As it stands, we are on the bubble for a 6 if we win out and have to rely on the misfortunes of others.
While Rhody is a long shot, I'd love to see them replace X. If not, I'd love to play X in the first round and beat the ever loving . . . . . out of them!
After seeing C-time's post, I now hope we switch to Reebok uniforms,

Lunardi and Palm have us at an 8. If they are right, I don't think we jump 2 slots with the A10 Tourney championship. At best, I think we can move up one slot.
So a 6 is possible if Lunardi and Palm have us seeded too low, if they are right, we are looking at a 7 at best.

Exactly. If we're an 8, and the top rated program in our conference, winning 3 games against lower ranked teams isn't going to prop us up 2 spots.
I also tend to think the committees give more of a pass to teams losing in their conference tournaments I think it's probably rare that a conference tournament ever props a team up or down 2 seeds.

At Ole Miss it is! At Dayton she's an 11.
As for the topic of getting a 6 or even a 7 based on the outcome of the tournament I am not convinced what happens in the A10 final matters unless it is for a team to get the automatic bid who is not already in the field. The committee has made most of their decisions by 3pm when the game ends and how much are they really going to weigh the outcome of one single game. I for one would prefer the tournament ended on Saturday so the committee actually considered the outcome, but I know it's on Sunday so the A10 can get on CBS.

Pretty much agree. However, a lot also depends on the other teams that are 6-8 now. With some losses, maybe we get a 6 with a Finals loss.

I agree, but I would give a little more wiggle room as depends on what other teams do.
6-7 = A-10 Tourney Champ (but likely 6)
7-8 = Finals Loss
8-10 = SBU/Rhody Loss
9-11 = Davidson/LaSalle Loss (but not first 4)

Assuming this is in order, we're high up in the "8" ranks. Get to at least the finals and get the heck out of that 8/9 game! Win it, and a 6 seed would look pretty nice! Stay there. Nobody wants to be a cursed 5!

We aren't getting a 9 seed. Personally I think the Flyers just took the seeding down for VCU also if they don't win this tournament. I'm guessing an 10 at best and probably an 11 and maybe back at the Arena.

I think they are in as a 10 or 11, but the committee will send UD to the NIT before they let them play in the 1st four again.
