What A Time To Be Alive

BEVERLY HILLS (MI) -- Beyond the “Join the Fight” hashtag that the UD Men’s Basketball team has adopted as a slogan, the phrase that has been repeated most often about this magical UD season is this:

What a Time to Be Alive!

Indeed, what a glorious juncture this is to be a Flyer Fan and to be on planet Earth.

Consider:

The Red and Blue are # 4 in the AP poll: https://apnews.com/APTop25CollegeBasketballPoll

Even better, Dayton is # 3 in the Coaches Poll!: https://www.usatoday.com/sports/ncaa.../coaches-poll/

UD is # 4 in NET Rankings: https://bracketologists.com/date/2020-02-22

The Flyers are #6 in KenPom: https://kenpom.com/

AG’s Guys are 25-2 and have won 16 games in a row, the most since 1957-58 and are undefeated in conference play.

As Carly Simon would say: These are the good old days!

Elsewhere in Flyerland:

-- After the Duquesne game, Tom Archdeacon of The DDN introduced a well dressed gentleman to Obi--well dressed because he was wearing a sportcoat and tie while the rest of us were in jeans and sweaters. Arch said that like Obi he was also from New York. Turns out it was Jere Longman from The New York Times.

Here is a picture of Jere interviewing a shoeless Obi:

So, I guess we should expect a feature on Obi in The NYT sometime in the near to immediate future then, eh?

-- ICYMI, here is a link to the Stadium replay of the Duquesne game:

-- During the Dukes debacle, Obi joined the 1,000 point Club at UD and he also broke the record for dunks in a season. Here is some cool animation celebrating the latter:

-- Trey Landers was included on Jon Rothsein’s list of “Top 10 Glue Guys” in college hoops:

-- Nice piece on Assistant Coach Ricardo Greer from The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:

https://collegehoopstoday.com/index....ge-basketball/

-- Jeff Goodman of Stadium thinks that allowing players a one-time waiver to immediately transfer without having to sit out a year will be “the death of college basketball”:

-- Ken Pomeroy begs to differ:

Coaches and commentators have said for years the 'transfer epidemic' will cause the rich to get richer yet somehow we have Dayton and San Diego State competing for one-seeds this season, while UNC and UCLA are barely in the top 100.

-- Finally, comedian Frank Caliendo does a tremendous imitation of Bill Walton--while the big redhead is sitting right next to him!:

That’s it “From the Swamp.”
