Watching and Waiting

BEVERLY HILLS (MI) -- Back in the “Psychedelic Sixties” the Moody Blues came out with a mind-altering song entitled “Watching and Waiting” that seems apropos for the Flyers current 2012 recruiting situation. Here’s a sample:

“Watching and waiting
For a friend to play with
Why have I been alone so long?”

You can listen to the whole tune here:

While we watch and wait for Messrs. LeVert, Taylor, Brzoja, Dickerson, Pierre and Wilbut to make up their respective minds over who takes the last two scholarships, let’s light a stick of incense and mellow out to some links:

-- ESPN.com’s Jason King says that, as SMU discovered, more and more Mid-Major Head Coaches are happy to stay right where they are:

-- Luke Winn of SI.com is probably correct in stating that Butler doesn’t need to change a darn thing when they join the Atlantic 10:

-- Now this is really dumb -- former BG recruiting target Vinny Zollo of WKU is not being allowed to transfer because his GPA is below a 2.6 and it might impact the Hilltoppers’ overall APR and could threaten their eligibility for post-season play. That’s correct: not will impact; might impact:

-- Leave it to the stat-heads to come up with a total of thirteen different positions for a sport that features only five guys on the floor at any one time:

-- A few weeks ago, Che-Hsuan Lin of the Boston Red Sox played one-half inning of defense, never batted and was immediately optioned back to AAA Pawtucket. Turns out that Lin’s name translated into English is “Moonlight Graham”:
