Besides that dunk Pollard not getting it done, 3-9 on point blanks and 4 fouls.

We need our guards to wake up. They are getting crushed by Dukes' guards. Pollard has four fouls now. I think you bring Sam in until the five minute mark.

UD has to regain their composure. The players are reacting to all the calls by the officials instead of playing. Getting way too caught up in the emotion of the game.

Duquesne - 18 assists on 25 FG
Dayton - 13 assists on 21 FG
They have better ball movement than us today

Was Sam Miller seriously guarding Mason on that 3? Or did my eyes play tricks on me?

And Sam Miller shows out on Mason and then just completely leaves him after Kyle Davis gets caught on the screen. Inexcusable by both guys. We're gonna need a miracle.

Why didn't Scoochie just try to reverse it instead of trying to dunk?
And now he misses both FTs.

I feel like the previous two seasons - especially late in games - Smith was who I wanted at the line. But this season he's been so rough. He's just leaving points on the table time and again.

Scoochie made one free throw and the miss landed in the hands of a front-liner. Flyers win by a whisker! Cooke and Kyle got it done at the end. Scoochie had a horrible night from the line but he did hit the big 3!

We escaped.
Duquesne is a good team. Hope they can continue to pull it together.
Defense at the end won this, free throw shooting nearly lost it.

That was "Aroldis Chapman throwing 100 mph" level closing by UD.

Nothing like learning a difficult lesson... but still getting the W! I'll take that every time. Think they'll be ready for Rhody?

Win is a win. In March no one will ask about the final score if you win.

Don't overlook the game that Sam Miller played. He had two key steals that started fast breaks. Also, he had a nice first half...hit that big 3 when we were floundering.

One of Scoochie's best games. He D'ed up when he had to and consistently drove the ball to create. That three near the end was the game. Now work on your friggin free throws.

Duquesne will be a 20 win team and they have some very good pieces. They took down some good teams this year. That said, I did not expect this to be as tough as it was particularly at home.
We do have a bull's eye on our backs thanks to the ranking, however.
Looking forward to Rhode Island this Friday.

Dukes shot the 3 very well, but in all honesty, if we make just an avg percentage from the FT line it's a 10 point win. It's great to win when you shoot poorly from the line and the field. Sheer toughness.

Duquesne is far from bad when Mason makes shots. Don't know rest of their schedule but if he shoots like tonight they will win 20. Have a shot at an NIT.
But next year - my gawd they could be awful. That team without Coulter and Mason could go 0-30.

I've seen some Gawd-awful reffing over the years, but this game takes the cake. HOWEVER--if we make the missed easy lay-ups and even half the missed FTs, we win going away and we're not in danger of heart failure again. The refs are always horrible, but making the shots is the best way to overcome them.
The Duke's fans are probably complaining bitterly about the refs, but the fact remains--they missed just enough shots to lose, especially in the last few minutes when we went on a 19-5 run. Besides, most of the fouls on Dayton the refs pulled out of their butts. It took most of the game, but finally Mason and Colter got shut down and no one else took up the slack. They all seemed a bit panicky after we got the lead back and started chucking up too many clunkers. I was glad the crowd got into it. Even the fans across from the student section were on their feet. Archie said he'd never heard us be that loud before.
Now on to URI, which scares me more than any team so far, considering their habit of winning in the last second. It would be so great to beat them at their place and maybe move up in the rankings. I'll be at LaComedia Friday night, keeping track of the score surreptitiously on my phone and if we win, watching the recorded game later. Might be better for my heart anyway, lol.

all of the other guys play off of Mason and Colter. They have no one else that can create anything. Suprised that they don't have anyone behind Mason and Colter. Both played the full 40 minutes.

I'll say it - that's the best offensive backcourt in the league. No other tandem comes close, offensively-speaking. They made shots tonight as well as any duo I can ever remember seeing at The Arena.

Would like to see the +/- on Sam tonight. From what I saw (and I was there), he probably had the best numbers of anybody in the frontcourt tonight.

In terms of a sustained decibel level, those last 6 minutes were as loud as I can recall at any time in the past 40 years. The 1990 games against X might come close, but other than that you probably have to go back to the 1974 tilt against #2-ranked Notre Dame to get 15 minutes worth of a sustained roar like there was tonight. At a neutral site, this would have been an 8 point (or more) loss.

Posley and Adams are every bit their equals and maybe better as they can slash as well.

I agree, the refs were terrible, especially the white haired tall guy. What is his name ? Kelly ? O'Donnell ?. I have seen him ref several times on TV and he was bad then.
