When Darrell starts shooting like this you expect every one to go in. His stroke looks like Freshman year.

And that timeout from Archie will end the night for John Crosby and Sam Miller. Hawks cut it to 7. 6:53 left
I'm actually impressed Archie took the timeout there. Too often he waits and won't take one.

Just as I was starting to feel relaxed, the Hawks' 7-0 run reduces the lead to 7.

It's really disappointing: it seems to happen with such regularity and it puts Archie Miller in a bind. Rather than being able to rest players for longer periods he's continually forced to put those players back in the game to re-establish control.

I have a feeling starting Friday that Sam will not be the cause of these runs. I thought most of the run was his fault.

Charlie Brown nails a 3 to cut it to 5. 1:10 to play.
Hawks will probably press and start fouling now. I bet Pollard is fouled as soon as he touches it.

Because sometimes it's just hard to show up motivated every night. I've got season tickets and have only been to 4 games this year because it's hard for me to get excited enough for some of these opponents to make an over 4 hour round trip. If I lived in Dayton I probably would have gone but these games seem more like work than fun to me.

I'd say the same reason. Probably figured it would be a blowout and figured they could stay at home and just watch it online while getting other stuff done on a Tuesday night.

For a school and a city that are proud to say that we support our team no matter what that is a pretty lousy excuse for the students. Can't say that when I was there I ever missed a game because it was going to be a blowout or for any other reason. I only missed three home games in four years and that was during Christmas breaks. I even stayed later and came back early from Christmas break almost every year so I wouldn't miss the games.

I'm betting the same thing happens on Tuesday the 21st for the Mason game. The only saving grace for the VCU game that is on a Wednesday is that it's VCU. The student's actually know they're a good team and will show up for that game.

Exactly - I think we even had as much fun in blowouts as in nail biter "big games" back in the 60's because it was just such a joy to see your team excel. I agree that soaring over somebody like North Carolina was sweeter than soaring over somebody like Baldwin-Wallace, but honestly, I enjoyed both victories immensely and wouldn't have missed one for anything. Come on, students, this is your time - these are your games. Treasure them. In person!

Because "A-10 Refs Suck".
Actually, I was at the game and was looking for a penalty flag for Clipping, 15 yards, and a First Down.

Same here. I grew up with Flyer Basketball. Guys like Obravac, Jackson, Smitty, Johnny D, et al were my heroes. While in college, I don't think I ever missed a home game. Waited in line for student tix as a frosh, and then sat-in with the Pep Band, even though I wasn't scheduled to play. Was there for Schelly to Chapman to Young for "The Shot". Didn't matter if it was the University of Notre Dame or Notre Dame College: I was there. And if I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't change a freaking thing. It's part of the UD experience! WHAT THE H3LL IS WRONG WITH THESE KIDS?!?!

Not really. They are who they are at this point and any mention of blowing out any SJU's team with Martelli is rather foolish thought. The guy can coach and he'll have his team in the top 3 next year in the A10..

But you have to acknowledge a 14 point lead quickly shrunk to 7 with Crosby and Sam in the game. At least Archie decided to stop the run with a timeout before it got worse.

Gotta give a shoutout to whoever it was in the student section that dressed up as the San Diego Chicken last night and flapped his/her wings throughout the contest.

Of course I acknowledge it and I expected it to happen. That's my exact point. It's happened to UD several times playing teams not even as good as SJU and going against coaches not nearly the coach that Phil Martelli is....

But you have to acknowledge that a 9 pt lead went to a 14 pt lead when Crosby entered the court.

That's entirely possible as I was just stating what I remembered and not looking at the play by play box. What I remembered was a 14 point lead quickly going to 7 and those 2 were in the game so that's what I said.
What were the +/- numbers last night anyway?

DD was best with a +12. Kyle was worst with a -2. Sam and Crosby were both a +1. Scoochie was +6, for comparison to Crosby.

Personally, I want both of the kids to succeed. But Crosby seems to be playing with his hair on fire more often than not. And, in the St. Joe's game, Sam was playing like he was in "open gym" - lazy rotations on defense, failing to box-out, etc. They need to clean-up their games big-time if they want to see more than 6 minutes/game next season.
