Mississippi Rebels
Last Season: 24-11 (9-7)
Key Losses: Terrico White, DeAundre Cranston, Murphy Holloway, Eniel Polynice
Head Coach: Andy Kennedy
Projected Starting Lineup
PG: Chris Warren 5-10 Sr.
SG: Trevor Gaskins 6-2 Jr.
SF: Zach Graham 6-6 Sr.
PF: Terrance Henry 6-9 Jr.
C: Reginald Buckner 6-8 So.
Key Reserves: Nick Williams 6-4 Jr. SG, Demarco Cox 6-8 Fr. C, Dundrecous Nelson 5-11 Fr. PG
After losing to Tennessee in the first round of the SEC tournament, Ole Miss blew its chance at reaching the NCAA tournament. But the Rebels made the most of their trip to the NIT by winning three games in a row over Troy, Memphis and Texas Tech and reaching the semifinals, where they lost by five points to Dayton. But despite not reaching the NCAA tournament, it was a strong way to finish the season. And although the Rebels lost three of their top five scorers, they still look to build on their NIT momentum with the quality players who are returning.

Conference Rank: #5 Southeastern Conference 2009-10: 24-11, 9-7
2009-10 postseason: NIT
Coach: Andy Kennedy (85-50 at Mississippi, 103-62 overall)
Mississippi finished the 2009-2010 campaign with some nice wins in the NIT and an impressive 24 win season, but the Rebels had an opportunity to reach the NCAA Tournament, but failed to capitalize on their chances. Now this team has a little rebuilding to do, but with five experienced players returning and a plethora of talented newcomers, this could be the year that Ole Miss finally makes it back to the big stage.
Final Projection:
The overall team depth should be in good shape with the healthy mix of transfers and freshmen. Sooner or later players like Cox and Nick Williams could be starters and at the least they should be superb players off of the bench. That gives Mississippi just as much talent as they had last season. With the senior leadership of Warren, Ole Miss should be able to win some of those clutch games they lost last season and be on the right side of the bubble.
Projected Post-season Tournament: NCAA
Projected Starting Five:
Chris Warren, Senior, Guard, 17.2 ppg
Trevor Gaskins, Junior, Guard, 4.7 ppg
Zach Graham, Senior, Guard, 9.2 ppg
Terrance Henry, Junior, Forward, 6.4 ppg
Reginald Buckner, Sophomore, Forward, 4.1 ppg

I'm gonna bet there is not going to be anyone at this other than family, friends, and the cheerleaders/band who have to be there. The Ole Miss LSU football game is just now getting ready to start the 4th quarter and Ole Miss is up 24-23. There is no way those people are leaving where they are watching the football game to come to the basketball game. There may not be 3000 people actually there. The attendance they end up listing may be more but it will be a tickets sold number.

Our defense is absolutely pathetic right now. As bad as I've seen from the Flyers in a looooong time.

Wright is forcing it a little too much on offense, however he has made some real nice passes to the baseline player.
I like the fire Benson has been playing with so far.

Benson is a beast right now. 29-24 Ole Miss
We have to defend the 3 better and rebound the ball. Spearman can't stay with his man right now either.

We have to defend better and we have to either hit some shots or get some offensive rebounds. They are just as(or more) athletic than us and we are not just able to out jump them for rebounds like we do alot of nights.
Its going to be tough to make a comeback in this one.

That is exactly right. Our guards have to do a better job of preventing initial penetration. Every time they drive we have to help and we leave them with wide open looks that they are burying.

not just guards, their forwards are penetrating. They either get close to the rim or dish for an open jump shot ... and they are good looking shooters, I wouldn't expect them to start missing most of them.

Raise your hand if you think CW will ever turn into a consistent basketball player here at UD?
Didn't think so..............
for a guy who gets the term "All American" thrown out there a bunch...he sure does have allot of games with 7 points and 4 rebounds. I'd take that this game.

We're only 3 games into this season and I already miss London's ball pressure. When our pgs can't cover their pgs, we're in trouble.
Xavier has a good pg, we have a lot of work to do if we are going to slow down Holloway.

Wouldn't it be nice if the Rebels let them back into this game the way UD let Akron back in

Those who yell at us for jumping off the bandwagon this early will say it all the way up until we're in the NIT again...and it will be acceptable to them too.

Some folks are just poor losers and they overreact when things aren't going their way. It's always been that way and will always be. Nothing we can really do about it.
Ole Miss is just a better team right now. It's a long season. Our team has a lot of improving to do.

Only down 10. If we can keep them off the offensive glass we can get back in this. We can't keep letting them get 2nd chances.

You guys need to freakin' relax! It's one game. We may deserve 2 losses for it but it's just one. First road game for a bunch of guys. It'll be fine, just breathe deeply and you'll be OK.

Is it the first road game for Chris Wright? He is absolutely worthless tonight.

Wright has had a bad game, no doubt. But he is not what worries me, he'll bounce back. Our perimeter defense is what worries me. Nobody (I thought Paul could, but he's struggled in the 2nd half) can stay with their PG. That worries me.

It will be incredibly difficult for him if he can't make a shot outside of 14 feet.

needs a jump shot and needs better handles. i can see him going undrafted and then maybe being picked up after going in for some workouts post draft.

My opinion is that Staten should NOT have gotten this team at Game 1. He should have earned his way into into by Game 10 or so as our starter.
which is why you force when you"re a Freshman in your first road game against a Quality opponent.
