We have very little chance in this game, but that being said, we own the SEC.

On paper this is a terrible match-up for Dayton. Vandy shoots it well from deep, which Dayton has struggled to defend all season. Defensively, they protect the rim well with their size and scheme. Commodores only allowing opponents to shoot 37% inside the arc - 4th best in the country.
Dayton will need to soften up their defense by hitting some deep threes. Pollard and Cooke have to attack with purpose and not just hope to get a whistle. Dayton will have to carve out an advantage on the glass and at the free-throw line.
Dayton is at their best when they can generate turnovers and get transition baskets, but Vandy doesn't turn it over and are happy to get you in the half court. Flyers could have some success doubling the post unpredictably to generate some steals and deflections.
This would have been a great match-up for the small-ball Flyers last year. This will be a great test to see how much improvement Flyers have made on weaknesses exposed in FL.

When we played well in big games and in the NCAA, we hit our threes. This game will depend on it.

Purdue is up on Howard 58-24 early in the 2nd half, so the good news is that the game before UD/Vandy won't be going to OT.

Purdue wins by 38 over someone called Howard and Mich St beats Mich Eastern Shore by 43. And people complain about our schedule.

Good start at 9-9 and no fouls.
Sam looked aggressive on that rebound tieup. Archie lit a fire under his butt.

We need to defend the outside shooters again. This is a chronic problem. Big Steve has to move outside with Jones.

They are shooting 54% and we are at 30%. We are moving the ball on offense, but very few players are moving except 20 feet from the basket. Cooke is in la la land tonight.

This game is looking like the Xavier game. Charles Cooke needs a wake-up call. We better learn how to attack a zone defense or everyone will imitate it.

The forced turnovers got us back into the game. Daryl Davis was more aggressive that last three minutes than anytime in his short career. We needed that lift.

33% to their 58%
Vandy had 2 turnovers in 19 minutes and 5 in the last minute.
Only down 8 with crap shooting, poor defense and Cooke with goose eggs in field goals and rebounds.

Vandy is not playing that well- UD self destructed most of the first half. Nice to see DD come alive the last few mins.

Team is playing hard. Just having a tough time putting the ball in the net. Nice close out of the half. Four straight steals.

Is this not an ESPN game? The announcer keeps saying "we" about Vandy. Am I watching the SEC network?

Is Vandi getting tired? Didn't notice how much they used their bench and it sure looked like they were throwing lazy tired passes at the end. This could bode well for the Flyers the final 10 minutes of the game.

The defense showed up at the end of the half and cut the lead in half.
There's hope for us yet!

Seems like Vandy was winded the last 3 minutes.

This is a winnable game. We can play better on offense and the d is playing well. Need to hit some shots and Vandy is a good shooting team but not this good.

Playing fairly well in many respects. It's obvious what the team did not practice this week, though: shooting. Haha. That's the difference in the game so far. Vandy shooting 58% from the field and 50% from trey, UD shooting 33% and 30%, respectively. If we can start making some shots, this could get interesting. Nice defensive close to the half...

I think so. At the opening there was a logo on the screen that said SEC/ESPN.

Our TV screen shows SEC loudly and proudly at every interval.

We need to keep Pollard on the court. It seems every game he is sitting on the bench with fouls.

Vandy struggled at the end when Baldwin and Jones went to the bench with 2 fouls.

I kinda like Gaudio, though. He always speaks highly of Dayton (he knows about the tradition, the Flyer Faithful, etc.), he seems to know his stuff fairly well (some commentators act like they know nothing about the teams and players during the games they are calling), and he provides decent, relevant color commentary.

Check this. If you go to the Gametracker stats for this game, the entire Flyers' women's team is listed as bench players for the Flyers. Maybe Amber Deane can shoot foul shots for KP!

And "The Ohio State Transfer, Jordan Sibert" found his way into the commentary.

Sam Miller needs to be glued to the bench. He is an absolute disaster out there. Let Williams and Wehrli play.
We have to shoot the ball better, but one of Pollard or Big Steve has to be on the court at all times whether they have 2 fouls or not. The offense is completely dysfunctional when they're both on the bench.

Halftime impressions from the game...
- Weird arena, but too much is made of it.
- Steve needs some serious lower body conditioning ( paging Dr. Rollo...)
- Their 7 foot center is abusing Steve down low due to the point above.
- Steve gave up baseline at least twice to their big man.
- Loved Sam Miller's effort, good minutes.
- Very good D on LaChance until their big run. Defenders lost him & he made us pay.
- Two good steals by Baby D--good coaching.
- About 400 Flyers here.

Yes, but unless he undergoes a "cranial rectalectomy", I'd rather he stay seated.

Steve with 8 pts and 7 rebounds in 12 minutes. We have to find a way to get his stamina up the 30 minutes a game. The kid can play.

We need the ball in Scoochie's hands when the shot clock goes below 10.
