DMO's great game
6/8fg, 8/8ft, 4reb, 3ast, 2stl
Oh wait - it was 6/12fg due to his 0/4 on 3's. I still think if he never takes another 3 he might challenge for all-conference and a double-double average.

As I watched him take a few bad threes I thought he was having a bad game. But, upon further review he definitely had a solid game. Wish he would stop taking threes because I agree he can be a BIGTIME player if he plays within himself.

Absolutely. Without the missed 3s the stat line is almost unbelievable how strong it is - across the board. 4 rebounds is even low for him, though, on average. And if he spent a little less time on offense outside the arc he might have grabbed 2 more boards after all.
On one of his drives I was just shaking my head thinking - how did that go in?

I've always been frustrated by DMO and his inability to finish contested lay ups. He made three huge ones in tonight's game and was, along with Scott, the difference in the game.
I've always said that if he could finish around the basket he could be all A-10 (2nd or 3rd team.). He plays like that in conference (with a few less 3 pt shots) and he will.

I agree, but 2 of those 3's were in and out.

His boards were down, but most of the team was below what they usually do on boards. I am wondering if it is part of the new defensive scheme for Arch. Play off the glass to get in better position for D.

I honestly don't hind the the threes I think 4 is a bit much I would hope he would keep it around 1 or 2 per a game but I prefer this more aggressive DMO to the more gun shy DMO last year plus I can see the extra muscle is really helping him. Interesting stat, coming into the GT game he led the team in rebounds, assists, and steals while being fourth in points, that's really nice.

DMO plays hard and is really a tough matchup for most PFs when he stays aggressive.

This. I came here to say exactly this but you beat me to it. Maybe DMO's best game as a Flyer tonight.

Lets not forget Scoochie. In 13 minutes he had 5 assists, 4 steals and 0 turnovers.
Outstanding. Just a great team effort.

Who is DMO? I think you guys are talking about the Flyer's leading assist man on the year. I call him Dime-O.

It's two really nice games for scotch in a row, far, far superior in execution and hustle than game one. If both points keep playing like this, the offense wont suffer many lapses

This is an Instagram post from earlier today from DMO. Notice the "Been waiting for this for 3 years now" in the caption. He may have been trying to prove a point with his play tonight.

That ability to finish in the paint comes from his increased upper body strength. Strength matters at the 4-slot! I have been posting my complaints about his shooting threes for the last 3+ years. It is simply not his game. It merely takes him out of the paint where he is much more effective, especially now since he can finish better. Quoting Clint Eastwood, "A man's go to know his limitations!" His former coach and the man who recruited him, Brian Gregory, had to be very, very impressed with the development of this young man over the last three years. I have always said that players at the 4 and 5 slots need to spend as much time in the weight room as they do the basketball floor.

If I were the coach I would tell DMO to continue taking wide open threes. I believe he will hit some big ones this year. I would track it though to decide if there might be a fatigue issue with his shooting percentage which I admit is low right now. I would also track where he is making them from so this is where he tries to spot up

IMO, Oliver taking threes (or at least making the defense think he'll take them) is as important to our offense as passing the ball to the low post on a regular basis. The defense has to move/react if you want passing/driving lanes to open. And the best way to make the D react is to pass the ball inside, outside and all around.
If Oliver doesn't take the occasional 3, the defense has no reason to move out when he lines up the shot and the offense suffers.
Admittedly, it would be nice if Oliver could make a few...

Exactly....couldn't agree more. His yips close the hoop almost completely negated one of the strongest parts of his game IMO - his knack for getting to lose balls/always being around the ball/heads-up O-bounds.
If he can finish near the hoop it will be a huge lift for him and the Flyers this year.
Great point springborofan.....

Agree, but not early in the shot clock.
In the flow of the offense, fine.
I would hate to see him (or any other Flyer) passing up open looks because they were afraid to shoot (Jimmie Binnie, anyone?)
Just my 2¢.

yes...even Gavs
With the exception of Robinson, Kavs and Scott, every one of our players needs to be perceived at a threat to shoot the 3.
