Come on guys do really expect UD athletic marketing/ticket office to actually promote something. I mean that's really expecting a lot. It's just the 50th anniversary of finishing 2nd in the nation. It's nothing that should be celebrated or allow for fans from out of town to make plans to come to a game for.

C-time, you hit that over the wall, out of the park, and across the river into Newport.
Amazing how right you are!...incredible.

I put in a call to the ticket office and they had no idea if anything was going on. They forwarded me to someone else who they said would know about it. I left a message and will have to see if they actually call me back.

That strikes me as if the Athletic Department failed to plan ahead very well. There are only 4 home games left not including the Duquesne game tomorrow and they don't have a date set? I guess that pretty much rules out the chance of a throwback uniform.

That makes for a crowded event, since it's also Senior Night. The '67 team will be the halftime show, no doubt.

Nope. Red Panda is the halftime show for that game which means tickets in the upper deck should cost $100 since she is the greatest halftime show ever.

Do you not want to acknowledge that Red Panda is the greatest halftime show ever?

It's been in the game day program on the "upcoming events" page the past 2 games.

That's nice if you are able to go to all the games but some of us live a pretty long drive away and can't make every single game. And even if I had been I haven't picked up one of those "programs" in years so I wouldn't have known anyway. My question is if it was in the program that long why didn't they officially announce it before last night.

DDN today said the '67 team will be honored during a timeout at the VCU game. There will be a reception before the game.
No one should have been surprised by the close game last night. We always struggle with St. Joe's. They almost pulled off a "Dayton" with their short-handed team. The difference is the Flyers found a way to prevail.
Re: flapping birds--I loved seeing the Lee's famous Chicken flapping for Dayton in the student section. He eventually took off his head, but kept on flapping. Didn't even annoy me like the hawk does.

Wow, during a time out? Hopefully a full time out and not just a 30 second timeout. Even those this was a few years before my time, I think these guys deserve more than a quick round of applause during a timeout!

Wow, just made a comment about where I saw it and that "something" was being planned. Just because you didn't hear anything doesn't necessarily mean UD hasn't promoted it. Now we have people questioning that they are only being recognized during a timeout. Maybe there are issues with getting the remaining members of that team together...cut 'em some Royal Slack!

Get as many as you can together, show a few minutes of highlights on the big screens, talk a bit about each guy including the coach, and give them the recognition they deserve.

The plus to doing it at a timeout is that the fans are in their seats, not in the bathroom or getting a beer. The crowd is much more attentive to presentations done at time outs than they are during half-time.
This anniversary celebration should have been in the works for a long time, but I don't believe that it was. I am hoping they have a video presentation showing at least some pictures of their run. I also think they should have had commemorative rings made for them (didn't do those type of things back then),but I highly doubt anything like that is being done. Maybe they will get the trophy out of the case and have it on the floor, many fans have never seen it.
I love my alma mater, but I think we do a very poor job when it comes to things like this.

Clayton FF, that big game was the year after I graduated from UD. I watched it on TV with my newly wed husband at his sister's house. The 4 of us were going crazy with the triple OT. Even though we lost, it was an exciting game and soooo close to UD glory. We were all totally drained afterward.
I, too, think they should have more than an overtime slot.

Didn't mean to attack you, but this is something that should have been promoted and made a big deal out of. It's a way to sell more tickets to make more money. Obviously getting the most people from the team there is the most important thing, but it's kind of bad that they have basically used up 3 promotions on 1 game.
A game honoring the 67 team should involve throwback uniforms and have a full halftime to show a video and honor each player individually and leave time for plenty of applause for each.
Instead Senior Night, the 67 team ,and the Red Panda halftime show are all being crammed into one night. The 67 team instead is most likely going to end up getting a 2-3 minute TV timeout where they are announced as a group which is completely inadequate for a team that were national runner ups. With it being Senior Night I highly doubt there will be any throwback uniforms either.

I loved everything about last night except I was very disappointed with the 67 team recognition at the 12 minute timeout. Besides having only about 3 actual players there, I thought a minute video about the team could have been done prior to them walking out on the floor or at the 16 minute timeout. The whole thing lasted less than a minute. I know Don May and Bobby Joe Hooper were planning to attend, but both were ill. I'm glad they included a couple of the basketball managers or else it would have looked even more embarrassing.

I also thought it deserved to be a much bigger deal than it turned out to be. I also wondered why May and Hooper were not there and why there was no mention of their absence in the media. Didn't know they were both sick.
