MVP: Everybody
How's this for a stat... every single player who played 7 minutes or more had a steal. That's 10 players. I'm sure Jalen Robinson would have had a steal, too, if he had played one more minute. The steals have to be the stat of the game.

If Scott keeps playing with that intensity and stays out of foul trouble, we will be hard to beat down low. His offense was very solid, I thought.

Actually I think the stat of the game is +6. As in Steals minus Turnovers.
For a UD team that has been pretty rare. In Archie's two season's we average -9. Nine more TO's than steals/game.

I almost passed out when he up-faked. Lordy, I thought I'd never see it in my lifetime. It is a can't lose move. Either you get a wide open shot or you get fouled. Either way it puts points on the board.

The young man has quick feet and quick hands. He also handles the ball well and finishes pretty well going to the hoop. He does need to work on his outside shot. Like Devin Oliver, Kyle Davis twists his shoulders when shooting. This makes it very difficult to maintain any level of shooting consistency.

Scoochie had 5 assists in 13 minutes. DMO and Sibert had 20 each, Vee had 15, and Dyshawn was basically a no-show due to fouls.
This was as good a team win as we've had in a while. Maybe since the Minnesota win at the Old Spice tournament a couple of years ago.
Of course, if Georgia Tech finishes like 12-19, then we may rethink this. But they also play Ole Miss in the OOC, so we'll have another data point to compare ourselves by.

GT is a bigger program, plays in the best basketball conference, has loads of cash but they still play in mausoleum.

Been a lot of years we would have loved to have beaten a 12-19 team on the road. Any win on the road is a good win. One over even a middle of the pack "BCS" team is really good.

I'm ecstatic with this win because it just might finally signal the season where we stop letting mediocre teams in the A10 embarrass us on the road. Maybe it's the bump in maturity due to a number of our lead players sitting out a year. Maybe it's also that the emphasis is on having court-savvy players.
I don't care what triggered that game last night by us, but I like the feeling. Maui will reveal some more clues, but that field is better than at least half the A10 road games we will face.

I've said this for a year now. Scott is the biggest (maybe not the tallest, but the strongest and most athletic) player on the floor 75% of the time he is out there. I saw him play in high school and he played like the biggest player on the floor. If he can average 10 points and 8 rebounds a game, we will be a markedly better team for the defensive strategizing he takes away from our shooters and drivers. He just needs to get the confidence, and hopefully this game did it for him.

SDF hit it...
It was refreshing to see a win by committee, but we also have seen that so far this season. Players have stepped up.
The biggest thing is that this may be the start of putting teams away on the road. They stepped on GT throughout the game and didn't let up. Had a few runs where GT tried to get back into it and UD hit big perimeter shots, worked the paint, got steals, got stops, got boards, and ran the ball out.
This team may have a different mentality. That is the mentality that this team has needed and has lacked in the last decade. Putting teams away on the road. Many wins on the road were by thin margins. Last night wasn't a blowout by any means, but it was a convincing win with our best player on the pine for a good portion of the game.
It is easy to win at UD arena. It isn't easy to win on the road. When they find a way to win on the road a good majority of the time, this program goes from being sufficient, to being pretty darn good. These next few games will determine the toughness of this team and the ability to get things done in the long haul. Even if they don't come back home undefeated, this will be a good indicator of what is to come this season.

He also used his butt to make space. Instead of going straight up and getting blocked, he used his back side and extended his arms to make space between the defender and the ball.

I love you guys ... one win on the road and we are a road powerhouse..... I guess we shall see; but sure love the optimism.
With the new foul rules, how did GT have so few in the second half? Does that say their "D" effort was lacking and thus contributed to our "O" effectiveness? Did they over-react to the new rules? Just seemed strange for such a big athletic team..... whos coach has a rep for defense.

I don't see where anybody said we were definitively... I saw a lot of "mights" and "hopes". I think that's reasonable after last night.

W IPFW - 2 steps backward...
W St. F. Pa - 1 baby step forward...
W St. F. NY - 2 steps forward...
W @ GT - 3 steps forward.
We've passed GO, have collected $200 and are moving forward.
I'm encouraged.

Yes indeedie!!!
I thought a key point in the game came midway thru the 2nd half...We just stole the ball and took the lead to double digits..BG calls timeout.
Out of the timeout, Flyers go into full-court press, steal the ball and score another quick basket. That really seemed to deflate GT.
A very timely coaching move that helped to keep the Yellow Jackets from mounting a comeback.....In fact, UD played like a swarm of yellow jackets themselves, with each steal providing the guys with a big energy boost.
To some extent I feel/hope that AM is starting to put his own brand on these guys and getting them to buy into his style of play....and without the distractions that could've been the reason it hadn't happened sooner.
The froshman really added a spark and were used at just the right points during the game.
AM gets an A+ for this one....wins going away, on the road despite one of his best players having a dreadful game.

That alone speaks volumes about our emerging depth. At the beginning of the season if someone said we could lose Pierre for a road game and not skip a beat, I would think they were dillusional.

How great was it to see all 3 freshman get PT at crunch time? Scoochie has had trouble finishing (including another one last night), but he looked more comfortable last night. Davis made a silly foul near halfcourt (and was promptly yanked) and Pollard had an over-eager over-the-back foul ... but all 3 brought some energy and maybe some fledgling swagger. AM is patiently working them in and I think they're going to contribute.

Have to agree with UDBaby. AM gets a good grade for this one. His in-game coaching was certainly questioned last year with so many close losses. Encouraged by some of the adjustments vs. GT. How worried were you when Kavs (and others) kept trying to front their big man, and GT would just lob it to him down low? Flyers eventually took that away. And that unexpected press late in the game? Loved it. A few good signs for AM.
