When do we get to see the good Paul Williams? Terrible shot selection, and then the offensive foul

If they would get CW the ball at the top of the key and get out of the way, you see what happens.
Get CT back in the game...need his FT shooting.

But London made the steal to start it. While ST brought some offense, the Marshall point guard ran right past him every time.

Is everyone listening to the announcers? First, CW passed that ball out and the announcers kept talking about how CW missed the shot. Second, LW dove for the steal on the other end but CL made a great play by picking it up right away. Laast time I checked a guy does not fall and slide ten feet. GREAT HUSTLE!

I'm taking this as a plus for Kurt...at least he's trying to make moves towards the basket now. Finishing should be the easy part.
And this is why D wins games...even when the offense isn't clicking, we are able to pull away with Tenacious D.

Hey BG...
Late game situations...get MJ or CW with the ball to beat their man with the shot clock running down. We use LW and KH...why?

Interesting Perspective
I have been at a party tonight and not following the game. It is an interesting perspective to read this board in catch up mode. If you look at these posts you would think we were getting beat by 20 and none of our players were any good. But the score says we are winning and a decent team has 42 points with 2 minutes to go. We will lose again and it will be ugly on this site.

To be fair...with the exception of a few CW plays and free throws the offensive output has deserved everything said on the board.
As everyone has been stating the defense has been fantastic.

Funny how this team plays better on the offense end when they don't shoot 3's...only 2 attempts in the 2nd half.

Fair enough, but it is pretty clear the team has bought into the defense and in the past we lose if we shoot this poorly. 11-1. I like our players and our coach.

Marshall averaging 77 ppg and Dayton holds them to 50! Another great defensive performance.

Not sure how they did it, but a win is a win even if they did shoot 26% in the first half

A win and a cover and held a team 28 pts below their per game average---though you wouldn't realize it from reading this board.
Reality is that this team will win with defense. If you are expecting 90 pts a game and blowouts, I suggest you start cheering for UNC. If you like 12 kids that play hard and bring it on the defensive end every night, enjoy the ride with UD this year.

Negative or not...31% from the floor and 10...10!% from 3 point range is not good. We made double the free throws we normally do per game and also our overall percentage on free throws was a bit higher than usual.
Defense was great as it has been all year.
Don't understand why listing statistics is negative.

DEFENSE. We held them scoreless for 1/2 of the second 1/2.
You are too negative kiefaber455. You need to acknowledge the good things this team does. We are 11-1 and continuing to improve.

Interesting to note that ST played 10 minutes and RL played only 4. Do we have a new 2nd string PG?

He really anchors the middle defensively. His obligatory 3/4 shots a game are almost an entitlement.
He is just so mechanical in his movements. Sometimes I wonder how he gets the change into the bucket on the tollway.

Wouldn't surprise me really. Nothing against RL, it's just that ST is getting that good.

I thought London played a great game. ST really provided a nice spark off the bench. Marshall came in with 5 guys averaging in double figures and a sixth just under 10. Tonight they had one guy in double figures.

Of course the game is over now so my game summary is:

I noticed that every time he gets the ball down low the crowd gets real loud. Are they all yelling for him to pass the ball?

I hope Santa brings our team some offense because our half-court offense is PUTRID not to mention our 3-pt shooting.
As I gazed at the other A10 scores throughout the game, I couldn't help but shutter and wince when thinking about a couple of teams we are going to face... Saint Louis and Miami (OH)... even though M(OH) is not in the A10 and we play them in reverse order... Those will be the WORST games to attend/watch! Those games will be an offensive nightmare! The way SLU and M(OH) play "keep away" and run the clock down 'til 10secs before setting up their offense... I wouldn't be surprised to see the scores of those games to be something like 44-40 (in favor of us, of course ).
Let's just hope that we don't see a whole lot of 2-3 & 2-2-1 zone , otherwise, we are going to have a hard time finishing better than 8-8 in conference play.
So let's hope our Flyers have been good enough for Santa to bring them some offense and especially some THREE POINT SHOOTING!!!!
Go Flyers!

Good win - Marshall is no creampuff. My only comment is that I think it looks like our best offense is the wide open spread four corners - get a good fifteen feet of space between each player and then let one of our incredible athletes loose on an open spaced one on one. When we were trying to milk the clock that way tonght we seemed unstoppable.
Great step forward for the team - I think this schedule may make sense after all - gearing up for league play with increasingly better opponents - I see 27-4 a realistic finish. This year is way fun!

Why do you bother to watch the games if you hate the Flyers so much? Every single game thread, all you do is trash the team and whine and moan and complain about every single possible thing.
What is your problem? Why do you bother? It's such a pain to read, although it's gotten to the point that it is funny how ridiculous you sound.
Give it a freaking rest already, or actually go to a game. You'd be able to see all the things that this team does so well. We play team defense, we play hard on every posession. We make smart plays, even if we don't finish every play. We mix it up on offense, we get the ball to the right guys. We don't make too many dumb turnovers, and we wear the other team down so late in the game, they make bad shots, bad decisions out of fatigue that lead to things like a 17-4 run to go from 40-40 to 57-44 with a few minutes left.
All you can ask for is a team to play hard and give it their all. So what if we miss some threes, and Kurt has a mental block? He plays good defense, he talks a lot out there to help the other guys rotate properly on defense, he blocks out well, he plays HARD. London is perhaps the only guy on the team that plays harder than Kurt.
I like this team, and we won't get blown out of many games because of our defense and rebounding.
