Why have replay?

Get rid of replay?

I said the officials were going to give to VCU when they called the 3rd official in.

Ridiculous call. It was so blatantly obvious it went off VCU. At least we overcame that bad call.

That was not even close. Sometimes I think these east coast refs have it out for us country bumpkins in the heartland.

Absolute garbage. There was nothing in that one angle they show that would lead anyone with two eyeballs and their head to the conclusion that UD touched the ball.

Which brings me to this question. Is there some reason the refs wouldn’t have access to all of the tv angles via CBSSN? Is the official monitor not being fed with everything the fans are shown at home? If they had access to all angles then this is an absolute embarrassment that the NCAA should be held accountable for. Fortunately it only indirectly impacted the outcome given that the Flyers played tough D after that and got the ball back 15 seconds later.

When they brought over the ref who missed the call at point blank range, I had a feeling they weren't going to overrule him. Just glad the game didn't come down to one possession.

Scott is correct there is no such thing as A-10 refs or ACC refs ect. in college basketball. Refs are assigned based mainly on the region they live in. In the midwest, many of the refs that do UD home games do MAC, Big10, and MVC games.

However many spend time in the same conferences. Carstensen was one we had ALL the time. He would spend most of this time in 3 mid conferences until a couple years ago. He is working bigger conferences as of late.

MBB officiating alliance - ACC, Big East, A-10, CAA
https://www.usatoday.com/story/sport...c-10/86470998/
The Atlantic Coast and Big East conferences are forming an officiating alliance in men's basketball, the leagues announced Tuesday. The Atlantic 10 Conference and Colonial Athletic Association will also join the alliance that will allow the four leagues to collaborate on all officiating matters and "serve to enhance training, development, recruitment, retention and feedback for its basketball officials." The alliance is effective immediately heading into the 2016-17 season.
Atlantic 10 commissioner Bernadette McGlade likewise expects the trend will be "benchmarked by other leagues and most likely by the NCAA."
ACC commissioner John Swofford called the alliance a "win-win-win-win for all leagues," saying it will provide a "consistent agenda" essential for the future, particularly with the NCAA's most recent rule changes.
"The geographic footprint isn't perfect but in today's conferences, it's very good," Swofford said. "We all know the travel for the officials can be brutal at times. We think this will really help that."
Ackerman stressed "consistency and accountability" and added that the move will lead to a "more rested referee" with less air travel.

Refs who worked the game should be reprimanded or punished in some way for this. Perhaps cancel 2-3 games scheduled to referee in A-10. This is so bad they must be held accountable in some way.

If the Refs that blew the VCU Bonna game got "internal discipline" I'm not getting my hopes up

True, but it sure makes you wonder about the rest of the game in general with the lack of foul calls on VCU and that play that Cunningham got gang beat where the foul wasn't called until about the 5th VCU player contacted him on the ground.

The way I look at it UD lost a posssession in a game that went OT...so yes it impacted the outcome of the game.

The issue with what feeds the officials see was supposed to be fixed based on a the missed call a few years ago in the Duke v Wisconsin Final game. The officials in that game did not see the TV feeds of the replay which clearly showed the ball off of Duke. The feeds they got didn't show it clearly. The NCAA supposedly said from that point on refs would be able to see all feeds from the arena regardless of where it comes from.
So not sure how this one was missed and why the refs weren't given the view that CBS Sports clearly showed was off of VCU.
Does anyone know if the A 10 has made a statement on this?

I know the angle they were looking at it when they zoomed in on them wasn't the angle that clearly showed it one way or the other.
