Relax, today will be a pleasure to watch. A guaranteed win. Hopefully we do not let it all out today and leave some for tomorrow. Expect Archie to use his bench and save his starters.

Why are any of you nervous? Last time I checked UDPride isn't playing the game, the players and coaches are. Could we lose? Sure...but no reason to be nervous about unless you bet the house payment on the game.

That's precisely why to be nervous because none of us control the outcome and we're emotionally invested in this team and school. Sure it's not life and death but when you're passionate it's only natural for nerves to be there

In any other year, Dayton loses this game. That's why. But things certainly seem different this year. And we are much bigger favorites this time around compared to other 'must win' games that we have faced and lost.

I have a meeting from 2-3:30 but I really don't want to watch anyway. This game is a friggin' land mine. Fordham is playing better with Canty and they are at home basically. If the Flyers don't make shots they will be in trouble.
They really need to come up and jump on them early ... but they have not done that very often all year. Most games they quickly fall behind.

Tony, lets be honest; when it comes to the Flyers, sanity and reasonable thinking have never been in your vocabulary That's what makes it so much fun. I've had several of my wife's co-workers ask if she "sat on "my" couch" following a UD loss before. Trust me, she's cost the flyers more than one game by sitting on that thing during game time.

I'm sorry, can't find a reason to be nervous about the Bronx Tire Fires....
Are you talking about the team that beat SLu @slu, the team 9-1 in the last ten games that arguably is the hottest team in the A10 (which will be getting 6 NCAA bids)? Versus the literally bottom of the barrel team of the LEAGUE, that just got its first win in the conference tournament in the last 7 years? The team that basically went to the wire last night, no rest for today?
Please... talk to me about nerves tomorrow

During pregame Bucky called CAnty a "borderline dirty player". Take it to him and get him in foul trouble and he may blow a gasket.

Keep telling yourself that. If we lose we are not going period. A bubble team losing for the 3rd time to another bubble team=NIT. The Flyers have to win this game. I hope neither one of us gets a chance to say "I told u so" but if someone does, I hope its you.

As much as I'd love to agree with that (and feel it SHOULD be accurate), I'm not convinced six A10 teams will make it. Right now, STJ is ahead of us, and beating us again would ensure they make the cut over us if the committee decides one A10 team has got to go.
I'd feel better if we take over that 5th spot.

Is there a rule somewhere that you can't lose to a certain team 3 times in a season? Tomorrow's game will represent about 3% of the season. Cumulatively, the Flyer's games vs SJU will represent just about 10% of the season after tomorrow. 1 close loss, 1 blowout loss and whatever tomorrow may bring. There is still 90% of the season to judge the Flyers on no matter what should happen tomorrow afternoon.

Well for starters, why wouldn't UD be up for the 5th spot, they were seeded 5th? On top of that, please show me one instance where the A10 had 6 worthy resumes and 1 team was left out? UD's NCAA odds will not change 1 bit should they jump ship and join the ACC this evening. Last season there was a lot of talk on the A10 board about how the A10 couldn't get 5 bids, the committee just wouldn't do that. Low and behold, they gave a spot to LaSalle and were rewarded with a run to the sweet 16.

The committee is not even allowed to utter the sentence "One A-10 team has to go"
Ask Hofstra how their dominant profile over George Mason worked out in 2006

Dayton is a 9 seed today. If (if, not when,) they lose tomorrow, it's probably an 11, not in the First Four, maybe a 10 with help.
Win tomorrow, it's a 9 seed.
Win Saturday, it's an 8 seed.
Win Sunday, it's a 7 seed. Each of those goes up one line with help.
EDIT: and it's Dayton, to rhyme with "Payton," as in Walter Payton, with a hard T. Do not swallow the T.

Bracket Matrix has us in on 97 out of 100 brackets.
Dance Card has us at 31 with 16 teams behind us making it, and that was before we won today.
What are you all worried about? Get your dancing shoes on!

They beat George Mason twice that year, maybe three times, not sure but the committee took George Mason over them and they proceeded to the Final Four. The nation and the pundits were up in arms that Mason went over them. The committee doesnt and aren't allowed to give a **** about conference affiliation or head to head. It is all about "Entire bodies of work" with an emphasis on WHO you play and more importantly WHERE did you play them at. Dayton is in. The celebration is on.

As far as I know, Bruiser has never coached Hofsta, he's at Drexel. I think his only other job was UMass, taking over when Cal jumped to the NBA. Was Jay Wright still at Hofsta in 2006? I'm guessing he was already at Nova by then.

All in all i wish these posters would get it through their heads that a conferences total bids are completely irrelevant to the committee, and two teams (if they played) what they did against each other doesnt matter. ITS BODY OF WORK. Palm says it,Lunardi says it, the mock committee was told to use it and on and on and on. Mason over Hofstra is exhibit A

Nothing personal Tony, but I hope you don't get to watch games again until next season.

Exactly! Not "Day in", like it is two words. The group of people I was watching the game with had as much fun poking fun of that as we did watching a win.
Maybe we're all demented...

Last season there was a lot of talk on the A10 board about how the A10 couldn't get 5 bids, the committee just wouldn't do that. Low and behold, they gave a spot to LaSalle and were rewarded with a run to the sweet 16.

I've already stated I agree this *SHOULD* be accurate, but I'm not on the committee. To my knowledge, neither are you or anyone else on this board - probably with good cause because we'd all vote in UD every year.
I simply hate leaving things to chance. Or, maybe I'm biased because I just really want to see us blow the Hawks out of the water. Our resume in a conference like the A10 should more than get us in, but some odd things always happen in conference tourneys, etc that start chipping away at the at large bids.
And also, I'm betting a few teams don't get in every single year that feel the should. Conference tourney performance is usually a big predictor in who stays and who goes. I doubt anyone will argue that, so why the push back to NOT beat the Hawks? Just get the win and lock down your spot. What are we, the Bengals?
