Shall we win or lose?
I'm thinking if we beat St. Joe's, we'll face off with somebody like, hopefully, Ohio State? Wouldn't that be a great first rounder? But if we lose to St. Joe's I'm thinking we'll still make the tourney, but be forced to play in, gasp, Dayton?
Which would you prefer?

screw Dayton. we want the NCAA experience. Even if it means getting shipped out to Spokane. winning 6 is easier then 7

Win. I think we are a lock now, but let's make it 100% and get a better seed.

I would hope most would prefer we win? Why would we want UD to lose?

i don't care what seed, just get in. i really don't see the committee giving dayton a home game. they'll just seed us a spot below to move us somewhere else. i know its technically possible to play at the arena, i just dont see them doing it.

I think regardless of what happens Friday at worst we'll be a 12 seed that doesn't go through a play in game

I think our win over St Louis jumped us past the First Four. Of course I would rather go straight into the bracket and not the First Four. I think anyone would.

Yeah, what a terrible thread. Reminds me of when UD won the NIT and people were asking if they would prefer that or making the NCAAs and only winning 1 game

I would rather make the NCAA and win NO games, then win the NIT. Not even close

I am on board with Flyerfanatic, let's win the Atlantic 10 Championship and be done with the whole at-large discussion.
I don't think roamp is asking if you want to lose versus winning, he is simply addressing the issue of what NCAA scenario would be exciting to the fan. Perfectly understandable question. And my answer is yes and yes. Yes I would love for UD to play Ohio State, and win of course, but so to would I love to see us play and win a First Four game so I can enjoy it in person...at least easier than I can by driving 12 hours. Hey, VCU made good on their First Four Start, and so did LaSalle, so just because UD plays in first four, doesn't mean they cannot win and then get the full travel experience of the NCAA tourney at other venue, etc. Yet, my guess is that if UD plays in first four, their gonna feel something special and an NCAA atmosphere will be alive and well at the arena for that. So no need to fear, just win the next game in front of you, and it all works-out well.
Right now we have one tourney game down, and nine or ten to go, to the Promised Land.

On one hand I agree, but if you told me I had to watch 2 UD games and the choices were Tulsa and DePaul in the NCAA or Illinois and UNC in the NIT, it would be no contest - I enjoyed those NIT games a whole **** of a lot more than the ugly ugly NCAA games. Now having done it once, that's enough and have no need for another NIT run

NIT Championship is still worthy, and it certainly beats a blank, just a little frustrating when it comes via a talented team expected to finish first in the conference. That was the real problem with the 2010 NIT Title...not that it was NIT per-se.
Let's just put and end to this bad movie and make a new Flyer Fanatic Generation by making a serious run in both A10 and NCAA tourneys, regardless of where it starts or how many games we play, or what seed we are. Flyer Nation is due for a big season ending that will be remembered for the next 20-40 years...we are do baby. Go Flyers Beat Flapping Birds!

An NCAA berth is better publicity and given the choice I would take the NCAA tournament appearance over an NIT championship.
But the NIT championship is more difficult - and for that reason I find it more impressive. I'd rather have the NCAA appearance on our record, but just in terms of which feat is harder, it's the NIT championship. I'd even go so far as to say that the NIT championship is comparable in difficulty to getting a Sweet 16, simply because you have to win more games in a row to get the NIT championship. And every game is against a good opponent. Flawed opponents - sure. But there are no 'gimmes' in the NIT. The NCAA opponents are much tougher but you only need 2 wins to get to the Sweet 16. Get hot for 2 games against great competition or win 5 in a row against good competition in the NIT. (This depends quite a bit on the competition, of course. Sweet 16 is a lot harder if you're an 8/9 seed. Easier as a 11/12/13/14 seed.)

Those people still discussing the NIT at this point need to get it off of this site and onto the Wright State or Xavier site!

He cannot really answer that question. Maybe because UD makes so many NCAA's per decade that he has lost track and can't remember the NIT exist......sigh!!!!!!!!!
As long as UD is the proverbial NCAA Bubble Program and NIT goers, then the letters N, I, T, will continue to make appearances on this board. And that's a fact Jack!

Wright State doesn't have a prayer of making the NIT. They are debating whether or not to go to the CBI again.

What makes you think I am happy about losing? I thought I stated pretty clearly I'd love it if we won and played Ohio State in the first round.
