Pierre got back in the nick of time. Otherwise we would've had a lot of Sam Miller.

Kendall Pollard never backs out. Always plays aggressively, and has no fear.

For some reason, I can't thank Smitty for his point about seeing more Miller. We lose this game if Miller played another minute. He's just not ready for this level of play. He may become a nice player, but, outside of necessity, he won't be a top 8 player.

Scoochie was dead tired, playing the entire half, but never let up, and hit some great baskets and free throws.

41 minutes for Scoochie. Crosby came in for 4 minutes, and managed to commit 3 fouls.

I agree. He hits 7-8 FTs -- a topic we have all complained about in the past when it's been 3-8. Gotta credit the guy for working hard and turning in a great job at the FT line.

I'm going with Pollard due to his free throw shooting. Who would have thought he would go 7/8 and then Kyle 1/4 with the game on the line. This team still has a lot of guts.

That doesn't surprise me. Steve is a game changer. The refs are following the NCAA edict to strictly disallow defense. The org apparently believes interest has waned in the game. Really? Whatever. Steve is a true game changer. He moves his feet better than his limitedinutes because of fouls suggests.

I'm going to go off the reservation and say Darrell Davis. He had a solid game tonight.
It's obvious that AM is going to go with a 7-8 man rotation (barring foul trouble). Baby D needs to understand his role in that rotation. There will be nights this team needs him as a difference maker. Tonight was just a glimpse of that.

That's because their defense is worlds better even he's on the floor. Thankfully, there aren't too many Kingsley level bigs in the A10.

Biggest defensive performances were Pollard - had Kingsley nearly all the second half in a switch from Pierre - and Cooke who picked up Hannah one he got rolling against Kyle Davis.

Voted Pollard on the basis of 7/8 from the line, plus some aggressive drives to the hoop and crashing the boards at critical times. Could have voted Pierre for a lot of solid minutes and a steadying presence on the court. Could have voted Scoochie for playing nearly the whole game and sinking some big freebies at the end when his teammates were chucking bags of cement up there. Could have voted Cooke for playing lockdown D and nailing some big shots on tired legs down the stretch. It took a team playing as a team tonight. Hard to pick just 1 standout.

Dyshawn Pierre 33 minutes held down the entire UD frontline with both Big Steve and Pollard in foul trouble; plus his eleven points; timely baskets; great saves on errant passes from teammates; amazing passes and great vision; and finally...his heart and point forward dribbling skills. DID I MENTION HE PLAYED 33 MINUTES AND HIS AMAZING DEFENSE?????!!!!!!
He could of had 20, but UD didn't go to him enough. With 5-10 minutes left, Flyers were in double bonus and no-no-one from Arkansas had any chance of stopping Pierre on the block without a triple team or continously fouling him...just saying.

No one mentioned Pollard getting dirty on the floor and getting a fifty/fifty ball, then getting it to (I think) Scoochie for the run out. (I think we were down on the scoreboard too)
I loved this game as the kind of primer for the rigors and pressures of March. Flyers being seasoned in non-conference.

I voted for Kyle Davis. Somehow he always surprises me with some of his plays. His defense was great, and although he only had 4 rebounds, 3 were unbelievable at the end of the game. Of course, tonight good cases could be made for Scootchie, DD, Pierre, and Pollard also. Hard to only pick one. Great team win. Happy New Year.

Not surprising. He played most of his minutes early in the first half when we built a 23 point lead. But to be fair to him, there's a significant drop off when he leaves the game.

The only vote that really matters - mine - went to Pollard. Free throws and his OT efforts won this game. Too many others tried to give it away. Thank rollo Pollard took it back!

I know Pierre is the 'nice' pick for the Golden DNutz's, but take the eyelash-batting adoration away from his first game back and look at his stats, and there's no way he should be in the running for this prestigious award!
He took the most shots and had the lowest shooting percentage...was 1/5 on 3s...4th on the team in rebounds...6th in total points. Throw out a blind-resume and he's in last place.
DDavis...Pollard...Scoochie...Cooke played hero at one point or another last night. KDavis eliminated himself with FTs...
That's the Royal opinion...or should I say 'fact'?!
King Rollo....OUT!

He played 11 minutes and fouled out. Probably would have fouled out much sooner but couldn't seem to catch up with Kingsley quick enough to hack him on a couple of plays. He scored zero and turned the ball over every time he touched it. Surprised he's not getting as much heat as Sam Miller who also stunk up the floor.

You're right...I must be having a Steve Harvey moment!
Santa Rollo has made a list and checked it twice only to find out there are 32 members on the Royal Roundtable and - for some reason - you're not on it.
For Santa's mistake, I feel obligated to offer you a probationary honorary seat on my left! Next to Brian Kollars! With 6 months of royal behavior, your seat shalt becometh permanent!
Back to the poll...I guess Pierre's presence and availability kept Miller off the court, so in that way he did contribute somewhat more to the win than the stats indicate. But that still places him firmly in 6th.

I'm not sure where the +18 is from, though.
Looking at the play-by-play blindly, it appears he was +14 on the day. He could have been +18 based on blind play-by-play review early in the 2nd half.
But, unfortunately, the play-by-play is blind, and they didn't keep track of McElvene sitting down when Pierre came in. Pay attention to the 17:28 of the box score, you will see that Dyshawn Pierre came into the game, but noone left. Since UD doesn't play the Karl Hobbs offense, someone had to sit, and in this case, it was McElvene. Therefore, any +/- calculations on this erroneous information isn't accurate.
So, with all of that out of the way, Steve ended the game with a +6, but a team-best 22.46 per40.
KDavis was team best +13 with a 15.37 per40. DDavis was team-worst -12 for a -22.84 per40. (Wehrli -6/-118.03per40!, Xeyrius -9/-108per40!)

After further review, since voting True Team was not an option which means we must single out just one player. Plus looking at Figgies +/- stats to confirm what I already thought, Kyle Davis gets my vote. Defense was awesome, hustle and determination is second to none. First man back on defense, except for 3 big possessions near the end of the game when he went in between the giants and grabbed a rebound. I swear that kid was 50" off the floor on the one.
