Ole Miss at Kentucky
Seems like this deserves its own thread.

We need G Tech, Ole Miss, etc. to have some big wins. (G Tech choked versus ND). Let's hope Ole Miss pulls off a miracle -- they win at Kentucky like 1 out of 20 times when they shoot lights out from 3 like they did in the 1H. We need Arkansas to come back as well -- they are down at half.

If they would of played like they are tonight we would of lost that game last week. They are playing great tonight and shooting the ball extremely well.

You are selling us short.
The way I see it, if Ole Miss wins tonight, we are No. 1!

Both Ole Miss and ARK are within striking distance midway through the 2nd half.

No Way, NO jinx!
Arkansas prevailed. They are the real deal. Top 20 team in my mind.
Ole Miss would be nice, but don't think they are nearly as good as Arkansas.

Our Ole Miss win is going to look pretty good at season's end. They are going to win their share of games in conference.

Good show Ole Miss! (or is it Just Miss?)
I'm not saying we could beat Ky, but this OT game shows how good we could be on a given night. We are beating some pretty decent teams with good records.

They had the ball with 22 seconds left and a tie game, but yet they do the same thing every team does in that situation. Year after year, game after game, you see the same thing. Guy dribbles slowly up the court, then dribbles around until the clock gets to 8 seconds, then forces up an NBA three pointer, even though you don't need a three, clanks it and game goes into OT.
I just don't get it. Ole Miss isn't supposed to win this, why not work the offense to get off a good shot and worry about how much time is left afterwards? Ole Miss doesn't want to go to OT with Kentucky in Rupp. Do what you have to do to get a good look at the basket, especially in this particular situation. At home against another team, I can maybe understand it, but not last night. Ugh, just frustrating. Everybody in the arena and watching on tv knew what they were going to do. Makes no sense to me.

Exactly JimBo. What I said to myself when watching. Penetrate and get the basket, the foul, the kickout.
Teams wait & get nothing.

I was yelling "call timeout" right before the turnover, I can't believe the Ole Miss coach ever let that pass get thrown in regulation. They were clearly lost and tentative breaking the press, no one wanted the ball.
Speaking of which, I was watching DePaul play the other night. They were up late and getting pressed. It looked exactly like UD trying to break the press when OP was the coach here. . . a flustercluck. OP seems to have never figured this out.

Kyle Davis put the lockdown on Moody, Kentucky decidedly did not. Moody didn't get a good look the entire game at UD, the two shots he made were with a hand in his face and KD blocked his two three point attempts in the 2nd half.

Ole Miss uniforms
The UM unis are of the same design, color and trim as UD's "road reds". The main difference being that the UM blue lettering and numbering are outined in white...making a big difference.
Blue on red without outlining results in insuffient contrast, in my opinion. I'd like to see our unis with white outlining.

I have never understood waiting until 8 or so seconds are left before trying to run the offense/attack and get a score, they should start with around 13? or so seconds. Even starting at 20 or 30 seconds left makes sense to me.
8 seconds isn't nearly enough time to get a good shot.
Everybody, and I mean everybody, does this though.

I didn't understand how after five minutes of play they took away one point from Ole Miss. Some of the calls in the last minutes were questionable at best. I rarely blame the calls but the Rebels never had a chance.

I recall a guy named Vee Sanford who started his drive with just under 8 seconds left. That worked out pretty well. (I might just have to go watch that again right now!)

I wonder what, if anything Archie comments to his team about this game. Obviously they know they beat Ole Miss, and frankly it could have been by a dozen + if they hadn't given most of that lead away in the final minutes (a point Archie has hit on several time publically and I'm sure privately even harder with his staff/team), and I'll assume most college basketball players are aware of how highly thought of this UK team is, how many think they stand a very good shot at going undefeated.
Knowing what they did to Ole Miss at home, and seeing what Ole Miss did to UK in Lexington can only re-enforce what Archie is preaching to them is working, that if they continue to play as a team, work hard, play smart, share the ball, etc.. that even at 7 or 8 players deep, they can compete with just about anyone. I'm sure Ole Miss was more excited to play in Lexington than they were to play in Dayton, so don't take this (and I hope the team doesn't as well) as an A>B and B=C, so A(UD)>C(UK) or on equal footing, but I think it shows just how much they can accomplish as long as they continue to play as a true team.

The announcers were making a point about the speed with which the Flyers were looking for a shot after made baskets by Duquesne. Their example was Scoochie going coast-to-coast in 2.5 seconds for a layup, which quickly prompted a time-out and a very pointed sideline discussion by the Dukes.
