Ahhh, Fairleigh Dickinson. And Michigan both in Dayton. I was there probably the last time it happened and #16 FDU came within a whisker of taking down #1 Michigan. Too bad they're not playing each other this time.

I was there too. That was a tough day. Michigan winning by four. UD losing by two. Miami losing to Maryland by one in OT. The best thing was getting to see The Admiral.

That Miami game is one for the ages. With the lead, I think they called timeout twice trying to inbound the ball but couldn't. Turned it over, Maryland scored and that was it.
I missed all but the end of the Navy/LSU game.
During FDU/Michigan, 3 of us started the FDU chant in our section. Others have come on here and taken credit for that. But I know the truth
By the time the Flyers took the court, my voice sounded like Archie's at the half of the Richmond game. I blame myself for using it up on the two previous games. If I could've given them more voice, I'm positive I could've willed them to 3 more points.
Then the Michigan/Nova game on Sunday was great. Everyone in the arena was rooting on Nova. After game as we were shuffling out, a Michigan fan that was sitting in front of us, stopped to use the water fountain. It didn't work. He screamed at the top of his lungs "I hate this state".
To this day I cannot think of better group of NCAA games to be at for a Flyers fan who hates Michigan and jumped behind Miami. And as you said, getting to watch David Robinson(who I got see against Maryland in 2nd round). I feel lucky, will never have a slate of games to watch live with such a personal interest.

Ok, Florida Gulf is up 21 at the half and they interviewed their head coach on the way to the locker room. I have NEVER seen someone sweat so much. He was dripping wet. Hate to see what he looks like when he's behind. ****.

It was 47-46 Wichita in the middle of the second half. Then Vandy scored 4 points the rest of the way, being outscored 23-4.
That was far from the best First Four matchup I've ever seen.

He took Cincy over St. Joes, but VCU over Oregon State.
More poor decisions by the President. (sarcasm, not politically motivated... )

BO no doubt picked VCU over OSU because his BIL Craig Robinson (who did a few Flyer games this year) was fired by Oregon State.

UNC Wilmington would also love that. They are up 3 over Duke at the half and deadly accurate with their 3s.

Just as a side note, I've been keeping up with the Syracuse message boards also just to see what their thoughts are on the rematch with us. They're very respectful of Dayton and very self-critical of their last loss to us.

Refs seem to be trying to have a say in that one. Last foul count I saw was Duke 11, UNCW 23. P5 bias? What P5 bias?

Wow. Connecticut went 22-23 on free throws. It's tough to mount a comeback when the other team won't miss when you foul.

Yale has been out playing Baylor (a 5 v. 12 matchup) all game and is still up by 6 with less than 2 to go.
My two thoughts: (1) what if Yale's captain was not suspended -- how good were they; and (2) this is what makes March Madness great.

Final foul count was UNCW 33, Duke 18
Final FT stats were UNCW 14/19, Duke 31/43
Final margin for victory for Duke was 8 points. Without the FTs, they lose by 9.
What P5 bias?

No 12 Yale holds on to upset no 5 Baylor 79 - 75 to advance to the second round. Yale's first tourney appearance since '72. Great finish.

What was that guy thinking who got the in bounds with 5 seconds on clock? He stood there like he wanted to run the clock out.

Purdue was up 13 with 3:30 left.
Vince Edwards just stands and holds the ball with 5 seconds left to send to OT. Strong basketball IQ there.

That was so strange, almost like he was waiting to get fouled. Five seconds is so much time. And Vince Edwards is a pretty solid, player, too. I think he almost made the US U-19s last summer.
This game is weird.

I didn't think Yale played that great. Baylor played stupid. The whole game it looked like Baylor could have their way in this game if they just played right. Then their two seniors getting into it with each other sent them in a huge tailspin.

Purdue urinated away a fairly large lead, but still led by three with 0:17 left after making two FTs. They played defense the entire time and the Little Rock guy hit a three with about 0:05 left. It was a really deep three, and it might have been slightly too early to foul, but I think it was worth considering.

Agree. That is what losing to an underdog can do to a team and footage that could be used in teaching the game. Thought Baylor would come out strong in the second half and take care of business but that Yale guard played the game of his life. Give him credit.

Maybe a little off topic but during halftime of the Arizona game there was a Lexus commercial and they are listening to a game on the radio and I swear the announcer says something about Dayton ties up the game - if anyone else sees this let me know if I misheard this or not!

IMO Wichita state was underseeded. AZ paid on that one. I think WSU beats them 6-7 out of 10, catching them in round 1 is pretty tough. I don't get how they seed the play in game.

Providence just took-down USC 70-69. The Friars shot like crap from the field, the Trojans shot like crap from the line, and Providence got (and made) the last shot.

The end of Providence -- USC was good. Friars scored with 3 seconds left to win 70 - 69 after USC missed FTs at the end that could have sealed it.
Wichita State shocked Arizona with a easy win. The Baker -- Van Vleet combo was too much for Arizona. Archie won't be joined by Sean in the Sweet 16 this year.
Gonzaga up on Seton Hall in the second half but I might not make it to the end. Looking forward to the Flyers playing tomorrow and want some sleep.

My bracket is a disaster. The first day always is filled with upsets. The second day settles down because all of the favorites realize they could be 40 minutes from going home and their seed means nothing.

So, two 12-seeds and two 11-seeds won today. Here's hoping our Flyers don't catch the disease that inflicted the Bears, Boilermakers, Wildcats, and Pirates today.

The NBE looks to be the most overrated conference so far. SH was awful. Providence looks like a team with one great player that's just ordinary. Butler(known as a great offense) couldn't score against what was known as a terrible defense(though they won), I'm waiting for Nova to go down early again. Xavier sure looks great on paper and did to us what nobody else came close to, but I have a feeling, they won't go as far as predicted because playing overrated teams for the final 2/3 of a season might have weakened them.

The Pac 12 is the overrated conference this year. USC, Arizona and Colorado all went down to lower seeds. Only Utah won. Joes will take out Oregon St today and Oregon on Sunday.

As sure as you are about that CE80, I would hope you've found a place to put some money down on SJ's first 2 games. You've been pushing that all week here and I think I saw a post of yours on the A10 message board as well. I hope you're wrong for 2 reasons. I hate St. Joes and it'll bust up my bracket worse than it already is lol. Go Bearcats(burp)
Keep in mind, they won't have the A10 refs to protect them.

If you are a Dayton fan you should be rooting for all A10 teams to win in the tourney.

I'm a Dayton fan and I'm rooting for VCU. That's all. SJ can get what they deserve and that's fair refs that won't let one team get physical and whistle the other. Go Bearcats!!!

Love the A10 and St Joe's, and hope they do it. I have seen Oregon play on TV four times, and they are very balanced, they can shoot and play great defense. It would be a huge upset.

Heck no I am not sure about it. I am that guy makes lots of unreasonable predictions and eventual hits one and then goes - See, I told you all.

ahh yes, the milder version of the guy that hangs around the race track and walks up to bettors with tips on 50-1 shots and says "Now remember I gave you this tip, and if when you hit it, you better throw some money back my way" and then disappears when the horse comes in dead last.

USC did just about all it could to give that game away in the last 2 minutes. Multiple turnovers, I think they missed every free throw shot (I'm thinking 4 or 5) including the front end of (2) one & ones, then fell asleep on the last play and gave up a wide open layup on an inbound play (though well designed) w/ 1.5 seconds left.

Ive seen a picture on another thread with a red-headed,freckled, bow in the hair masterpiece from Syracuse that STRONGLY disagrees with that statement. Future Mrs. BRob2Perryman3 right there.
That said, I'm hoping her tears ruin her mascara about 1:30 CT

Nah, aside from that last play, they played tough defense down the stretch, a team trying to throw a game would have folded on the defensive end for that stretch. Offensively however, they did the opposite of "playing not to lose" and played way to freely with a couple of stupid turnovers by going to fast.

I think my friend was being a little fecislcious but the point is they made a ton of mistakes and missed a lot of FT's in the last 2 minutes of the game.

VCU beating the Beavers by 8 with 12 to go. MSU is down 15-2 after 5 minutes. Of course.

Dayton can't blame the rims or the sight lines for the poor shooting today, as Middle Tennessee and Michigan State are absolutely shooting lights out...

Unreal...they can definitely beat SU too but if SU wins it's the whole UCLA thing from last year again. A team that didn't deserve to make the tourney will be in the Sweet 16.

This is a punch to the balls. I hope this makes the guys even more sick about the way they played. Not sure MTSU can shoot the lights out again, so I presume SYR will make the S16. I like SYR about as much as I like Jim Crews.

Hate to say this, but the Middle Tennessee team that I just watched would not be a push over.
Still would have loved to be the team playing them for the Sweet 16, but I am not sure that we would win and not sure that Syracuse will -- if Middle Tennessee plays the way that they played today.
Today is why I both love and hate March Madness.

I watched Big 10 Finals -- and thought Purdue handed it to MSU more than MSU won it. I was not impressed with MSU in that game. Don't know how they played the rest of the year, but this really doesn't surprise me -- and neither did Purdue losing yesterday. We'll see how Wisconsin does today. Ironically, I think Michigan might have the best chance to win because I think Notre Dame is overseeded. But this year has been and still is crazy.

Maybe it's the "Curse of Crews"? I mean, think of it:

Ya gotta admit - it's possible.

Maryland holds on against S Dakota. Dakota had the ball with 9 seconds to get a tying three and turned it over.
Same thing every year, the smaller schools prove they belong, and every year they get the invitation shaft.

If you watched Mid Tenn you would never guess they were a #15 seed. They were long and athletic and had skill. Shows what you can do if you can judge potential
I was watching this game at Bag Of Nails which had a huge crowd because of their fantastic fish and Lent. There was a lot of cheering for Mid Tenn State. I'm not sure if it was from Ohio State fans or fans just cheering for the upset.

I agree that MTSU really looked the part AND that Michigan State didn't gift them the game.
I also am at least glad that the Faithful that went to see our garbage heap of a game and stayed for the second game got to witness history.

Congratulations to VCU - played their tough brand of basketball, steals and actually shot pretty well today.
Congrats to Mid Tenn State for playing great, unconscious ball for 40 minutes.
Poor Flyers, We made it their, but no mojo today and the last month. Congrats for making it. But making it isn't enough. Very disappointed we couldn't keep this to at least a 5 point game

Thomas Walkup is a stud. He is the college player most kids want to be. His stat line looked like our entire team today.

If UD gets clocked, could not be more pleased than to see Huggins get throttled by SFA.
The NCAA needs to quit emphasizing top 50, top 100 etc wins so much. With current parity it is such an Stuttgart dividing line. Same for +200 losses when on the road. Teams like SFA and Monmouth deserve to be in even when they do not win their tourney. There just isn't enough gap between #30 and #150 to make those decisions anymore. And it's nest to impossible for a P5 to have a +200 loss other than very early in the year when it will be forgiven.
I thought the UD game set offensive basketball back decades. But Piit, Wiscy and WVU set it back to peach baskets. Unfortunately one of them had to win.

Xavier sure looks great on paper and did to us what nobody else came close to, but I have a feeling, they won't go as far as predicted because playing overrated teams for the final 2/3 of a season might have weakened them.

I understand the obsession but the Big East went 4-1 while many other high profile leagues were losing teams left and right. Maybe it won't last into the Sweet 16 but the league is not even close to the most overrated conference so far.

Could anyone's season end in a worse or crazier way than UCs? In the Conference Tourny they hit a great shot and stop playing so that with 0.8 seconds a UConn player can chuck in a 55' shot for the tie and then lose in 3 OTs...then lose to St. Joe's on a dunk that came 0.0000000001 seconds after the red light came on...UGH!
Just play 'D' and they advance in the Conference Tourny and get a better seed....just lay it in instead of dunking and go to OT vs St. Joes.
Stupid is as stupid does definitely applies to UC.

Don't look now, but with all of the perennial powerhouse teams falling by the wayside, it gives an easier path for the remaining team from Ohio to go deeeep into the tournament. That has to stop now! 😁

The TX - NIowa game ending was insane. NI goes up with a few seconds left. TX comes back down and Taylor makes a great floater with a couple seconds. Then NI player catches ball in backcourt with less than 2 seconds, takes one dribble and drills the shot from over half court for the win.

It pains me to say it, but this xavier team has the talent and balance to win it all. It's by far the best team Mack has ever assembled down there. Probably the most underrated team in the tourney that very few are talking about.
I still hate them though and my favorite team left in the tournament is whoever plays them, along with whoever is playing North Carolina. Just tired of Williams constant crying about whatever. Today he is crying about his team's tournament scheduling. Almost hate them as much as I do Duke anymore.
