UD vs. Northwestern in Chicago
I know the times aren't set for our game against Northwestern, but does anyone know if it will be afternoon or evening games? Starting to look at flights and just wondering if I can fly out and back the same day.

Not sure if this helps but it is the first game of a doubleheader.
Illinois gets the second game but wouldn't it be grand if UD had more fans and the place empties about halftime of second game? Organizers wouldn't see that coming.

Can we purchase tickets through the University or is there a UD section for the game?

I found a link for tickets. $100 for mid level seems a bit pricey and still not sure if there is really a "Dayton" section or just a Dayton link to ticketmaster

Remember you are buying tickets for 2 games, not just 1 and the "home teams" are two Big 10 fan bases close by.

Those of you who have decided to go up from Dayton and elsewhere- do we know of a headquarters hotel? United Center is a car/taxi/Uber ride from downtown, and not in best area.

Impossible! Chicago has the strictest gun laws in the country. No one is allowed to have guns, the law says so!

I'd rather be tried by 12 than carried by 6...

@southwest - disagree i live here and the UC area is very upcoming area. Very safe. If you are looking to go out around the area. Randolph street is great with restaurants and bars. Soho house, girl and goat and others.
Madison street has several bars all fun. west end is great.
Sorry cant tell you my source

Because this is right about the time ESPN begins their coverage of bowls, guessing this will be on the Big 10 Network?

We were looking at the Holiday Inn Downtown, is this area considered safe? I believe it's on Harrison.

Most places are safe in the downtown area. You just need to use common sense, especially if it's later at night. The United Center neighborhood was downright scary in the 70s and 80s. Now it is gentrifying, so safety in and around the stadium is fine.

You may be right. Last time I was there was in 2013 for Rolling Stones concert. We've gotten used to staying downtown since back in the day. If there's a decent hotel within walking distance that would be great. If not probably stay downtown and make weekend out of it.
I'm actually in downtown Chicago as I write this.

There are no hotels near the UC, so plan on staying downtown - in the loop, along the river or on Michigan Ave.

I recommend looking at airbnb rentals. You should be able to find an apartment for less than a hotel that is much more pleasant. Don't be overly scared of staying in a Chicago neighborhood.

Speaking for myself, if I wanted to stay in a neighborhood, I'd stay home. Too much to offer in Chicago to not stay near some fun.
