Terrible defense and forced shots give us 17 straight for Tulane. Burdette looks all world some games, and some, like today, mediocre.
58% shooting by Tulane is good shooting and poor defense.

Great quarter by UD. Much better shot selection. Finally pounding the ball inside. That Morgan is a player... 24 pts. Scaife was in her shorts on that last three and she still made it. Rebounding has kept us in it.

What a huge defensive play by Jenna and then two clutch free throws.
Layfield slacking today with only 10 rebounds and 10 points.
We doubled their rebounds, 46-23
Scaife with a huge game 19 pts, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals and only 1 turnover.

Saw the last 4 minutes. Way to hang in there, Flyers, after Tulane came back to tie it. Gutty win and some early-season hardware. Should be a fun trip home!

Gut check to win after being down in the 2nd half. Tulane is rebuilding this year, but the Wave have been to 8 straight postseasons of some kind so they are used to winning. This win wont wow the committee, but it will help us more than hurt. They all still count early in the year. You gotta "win the winnables". We were able to do that.
We get Brittany Ward 2nd semester. Hopefully Giacone will be back. We need to gut out as many Ws as possible before mid-December. We should get stronger as the season goes along. If nothing else a bit deeper.

That's a problem for womens basketball. talent pool is smaller than the mens and a couple teams get all the top rated players. really hurts the overall competitivness of the sport. thus the interest is relagated to a few teams and everybody else has trouble generating fans. Example, there were about 350 fans in the stands per game for the tournement the women just won. and that is at the state school of Maine. It's even affecting the attendance at UCONN, fans not as interested in 50 point blowouts as they once were. a quality program like the Flyers has trouble drawing fans and that is to see a competitive product. No simple answer and things aren't going to change.
