I'm sorry, it was good until they got to the 5 plus years of professional basketball experience. If this is a newly created position I guess the have to post it. But it sounds like it is a targeted position that only one person is going to meet AG requirements.

I would think the position is intended to essentially be a liaison between the staff and players. Often it's a younger, relatable guy with pro success who can kind of point the way for the players. I think they're often a bit more hands-on not only academic success but management of personal time and behavior off the court. This is the role Ricardo Greer served in at UCF. For Ohio State football fans, this is the Ryan Stamper role.

I believe only Wright would meet the 5 years of professional experience from that group.

I will be stunned if there isn't already someone identified, and they created the job/position to match the person. I've applied for too many jobs where that is what happened, i.e., I've never had a job created for me.

Since only professional basketball experience is required then Steve Lawrence's professional basketball experience playing for the Washington Generals against the Harlem Globetrotters count. Steve Lawrence was paid.

Is anybody who did not attend UD allowed to get this job? I didn't see that as a requirement in the job description, but based upon every response on here that appears those are the only people suggested. I have no specific names for you, but hopefully somebody who has had more professional success than all the names I've seen listed above can fill the position.

Charles Little? Mickey Perry? Kurt Huelsman? Is this serious?
The job is for Director of Player Devolopment. Why would we hire guys who were average players when here that they themselves didn't develop into the best they could be? Please dont forget...they were all coched in the BG era, and BG was a guy who was notorious for not developing his players.

This position isn't for an older individual who hasn't played in a long time. This for a younger person who probably stopped playing pro ball a year or two ago and wants to get into coaching. They want someone who can relate to the players and help guide them off the court. This is the guy who has to go make sure they showed up to class and that they aren't at Tim's at 2 in the morning.

It indicates both titles in the article, but it says he stopped playing professionally in 2013. What has he been doing for the past 4 years?

"Upon retiring in 2013, Davis connected with an old high school coach from his native Miami, Fla., Anthony Grant, who was then the head coach at the University of Alabama. Davis, 41, served as a strength and conditioning coach for a year (where many players were born the same year as his 1995 tourney performance), then took a year off to get married and spend time with his new wife. He hopes to get back in the game, perhaps at the college level again, but his real passion is in player development."

I remember Davis. He was an outstanding player for the Redskins. (I think they were still the Redskins at the time). I recall he was from Miami FL so, as the article indicates, there was a local connection between Davis and Grant. He certainly knows what UD is all about having lived so close and playing against UD so many times. It seems like a good fit given his passion for player development.

I remember his dreadlocks very well.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devi...s_(basketball):
As a senior in 1996-97, Davis steered Miami to a Mid-American Conference (MAC) championship, earning MVP honors in the tournament, according to Ultimate Sports Basketball Yearbook, Davis plays much bigger than his size but what makes him stand out is his devilish hair, he wears dreadlocks, short braids that stick out of his head like squirmy worms, In four years playing for the Miami University, Davis hit at a 15.4 clip, He joined Chicago Bulls guard Ron Harper and former NBA center Wayne Embry as the only Redskins varsity players to finish their careers with at least 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds.
Davis was the Idaho Stampede first round pick in the 1997 Continental Basketball Association draft, after his stint with Idaho, he played overseas in Spain, Philippines, and had stops in Russia, Mexico and Argentina. He won as the Best Import Award in the Philippines and won the Championship while playing with the Alaska Milkmen, averaging 28.5 pts and 11.3 rebounds per game.

Devin certainly had success at UD Arena:
2-0 at UD vs UD
99-93 in Dec '93
76-56 in Dec '95
1-1 in NCAA tournament (Mar '95)
71-62 vs Arizona
54-60 (OT) vs Virginia

I agree, if it is a tie you hope the job goes to a former player.
I also think that some people are better at recognizing flaws and making improvements than others. It sounds like we have someone who absolutely loves to do this. He knows Anthony and they can form a plan on each player and how to maximize their talents. Anthony has seen a few good players in the past few years

All I can say is when watching his 'get to know the coaches' video that just came out on UDMBB social media pages, he was less than impressive. He referred to Dayton as 'you guys' and just seemed very blah and boring.

Davis played for Grant and was on his staff at Alabama. The position was filled when it was posted. It was merely a formality.

This isn't a public relations job. This is an internal relations position. His job is connecting with the players and getting across messages on how to thrive on and off the court. He's not here to relate to 60-year-old men from the Dayton area but to 20-year-olds from all walks of life.
And the aforementioned video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9tUqrNNOYE
