Midnight Madness
I don't believe that Archie is a fan of Midnight Madness type events, but considering the energy coming off of last season, do you think UD should host some type of event?

Midnight Madness is a product of the 90s and a waste of time. The coaches know they won't get a good practice in running one at that time, and with limited time, they're far better off doing a red & blue game and actually making it productive. You may get a thousand students to show up, but you're not going to get a lot of the sweater vests showing up, so its going to look half assed in the end. The only reason to hold one is to impress potential recruits, I think they could be more successful with the Red & Blue game.

It's time has passed. Older than my cell phone, which by the way has a crank.

I like Red-Blue game better - on a saturday morning/afternoon. That may be because I am old and have three kids.

Official practices are great and all, but come on, one night of pure fun is good for everyone involved. Remember, regardless of your level of investment, it's still just kids playing a kids game.

IMHO, the Red and Blue games are better for fans, especially younger fans (if held on a school night), and the teams than a Midnight Madness extravaganza. Having said that, the allure of a MM event is understandable.

Been to both. Midnight Madness at the Fieldhouse back when the Elder Swampette was still attending UD and Red & Blue Game. Give me R&B every time.

Why no both?
I enjoy both. I suppose the red blue game could just be a bigger event. Maybe not have Archie and Jabir come in on motorcycles but make it a little more of a rally for the fans, leave it about the same for the team. Show some highlights of last year, etc. The arrival of the season makes me want to party. I say have a party!

We still had a red/blue game back when we had midnight madness. It's not one or the other.

The Red and Blue game is interesting to me because it is a closer representation of the basketball skills that we are going to see on the court. Back before X fell from grace and into the obscurity of the NBE, Fox Sports and play-in-games, I went to one of their Midnight Madness events, and it was just awful. It was embarrassing for them. UD fans are basketball fans who enjoy watching basketball being played, not the hokey fluff at Midnight Madness events.
If the students like to have some kind of Midnight Madness, I'm not against that, but it has zero appeal to me as a UD basketball fan.

Speaking of the red blue game
About 3 years or so ago, give or take a year or two, UD had the perfect set up at the arena.
Volleyball, followed by Womens Red / Blue Game, followed by Mens. The perfect trio for a night of family entertainment. Wish they would schedule like this more often.

I think we lucked out in that one insomuch that we had to play one game at the Arena to be able to host the Volleyball regionals that year. Haven't been back to the Arena for volleyball since.

They normally do the Red and Blue game around a home football game. They even gave away free ticket vouchers for the football game after the basketball had ended.

If they ever play at the arena again the best place to watch the match is behind the players, not off to the side. This is much more like actually playing and shows blocking strategies etc.
I agree with Fudd and others. I definitely prefer the R&B. My main purpose is to watch the freshmen and guess at the improvements made by players in the off season
