Women end up similar to the men in 2014... finished tied for 18th a place or two behind a team they beat in the tournament.

Not bad for a team with just 7 players, but certainly could have been somewhere in the top 25 too.

A total joke of a poll
That poll is just short of ridiculous. Seems there are a few coaches that tired of hearing about the wins our 7 man gang was racking up. Or maybe they bought into the Cooley whining about home courts.

I wouldn't quite say rediculous, we are right there with teams that were in the round of 32 LIKE OSU and IOWA. I don't agree with Xavier at all they beat two mediocre teams while we beat two much better teams in Bosie and Providence. NC state should totally be above them and so should many others as well!

Too much emphasis on end of year tournament. Mich State - 12 losses at #7.

Giving this ranking some more thought, I think there were some macro issues with the way our season unfolded, aside from the voting.
One issue was that the media adopted VCU as the poster boy for the A10 from the git-go.
Secondly, the voters and sports heads viewed the A10 as weaker by large margin from last year (some validity in that as evidenced by our collective poor A10 performances in the NCAA and NIT).
Third, when VCU plummeted primarily due to injuries, the coaches didn't see an heir apparent in the rest of the A10 and viewed the A10 as a one-trick pony.
Then our 6/7 man rotation began to get footing with unexpected wins and there was a bit of fascination with the Flyers. But I think as the year went on and the publicity grew, the fascination turned to a bit of jealousy on the part of some coaches. As if the success was a bit of a circus act. We got virtually no credit for a second place A10 league and tournament finish. Then the Selection Committee kicked dirt on us with the #68 tag.
Lastly, the talking heads actually were critical of our two wins and a close loss to Oklahoma (one possession game with under a minute) calling out the "home court" advantage.
Our ranking should be in the 22 to 25 range, but the bias that was apparent re the A10 and our 7 man squad leading up to the top 25 coaches vote made the outcome pretty predictable.
I believe Archie when he says there will never be a finish like we just had ever again. It
was accomplished out of dire necessity. Too bad many in the b-ball world missed it. Instead of shrugging it off, they should make a movie out of it.

UD was barely getting votes at the end of the regular season (and deservedly so). They probably deserved a rank in the 30-35 range. They finished in the round of 32. They weren't the worst team in the round of 32, but they weren't the best. So somewhere around maybe 28. RPI was in the 30 range. Final BPI of 26.
They were 32 in this poll. I really don't see any disrespect here.

In other words, voters were constantly looking for ways to keep the Flyers on the outside looking in...
But as you say, Archie made **** sure he used the podium at his last presser to remind everyone one more time.
