And there ya go. A 3-set victory for the Flyers. Taking them with a 25-11 3rd set.

I really wanted to watch the UD vs. Butler game, and of course the match wasn't on. Then I forget this match is on and don't turn it on until right at the end of the 2nd set.
This was a match we should have swept and should have done it convincingly. We hit really well in this match, but I think our defense could have been a little better. We out hit SLU by .310 hitting percentage, and that is very close to what Northwestern did against the same SLU team last weekend when they outhit SLU by .293 hitting percentage.
During the 3rd set the Flyers were hitting on all cylinders. Rachel and Alaina both were hitting the back line, Shayne was able to find the sideline on her slide attack, and Megan and Z were hitting true middle attacks that no one could dig. Surprisingly the Flyers hit even better in the first at a 0.533 percentage. That is the best hitting percentages in a set against Saint Louis all year. Here are the 7 best set hitting percentages against SLU all year:
BEST HIT % vs. SLU:
1. DAYTON - .533 - SET 1
2. DAYTON - .500 - SET 3
3. WMU - .478 - SET 1
4. SIU - .423 - SET 3
5. NOTRE DAME - .414 - SET 3
6. NEBRASKA - .407 - SET 1
7. DELAWARE - .391 - SET 2
The offense seems to be coming around. All of our options seem pretty dangerous. If I was on the other side of the net I wouldn't be comfortable with the ball being set to anyone. I'm more concerned about our defense, passing, and serving. UD gets a break week against La Salle and Temple, but will get to see Xavier at Frericks as their next "real" match. I hope the team takes this down time to focus on how the ball moves across their half of the court. I was intrigued by watching Jenna Jendryk's jump serve. Is it possible we see more of this as a weapon? Can Jenna and Coach Brittany spend these next two weeks almost exclusively serving to improve our receive and passing?

After the gauntlet we have been through, the A10 should feel like development league. The coach's big job now is to keep the team mentally ready to play as if we are facing ranked teams each week.
