Mention in Rivals College Basketball Mailbag
http://collegebasketball.rivals.com/...asp?CID=869324
Not much - and certainly not all that complimentary - but I figured I'd post a mention on Rivals.com. It's from a mailbag Skawra does, usually about once a week.

Oh, I thought he was all over it. I'm impressed as to how knowledgeable he seemed.
I just wanted to give a heads up so that people don't get all upset and excited when a website doesn't fawn all over us.

Disheartening fact...but fact nonetheless.
Here we are five years into the BG era and find ourselves thought of as an average to slightly above average team in a somehwhat above average conference.
When OP left we were on top of that conference. For the life of me I cannot figure out why we accomplish so littlle while expending so much effort.

I worry about the same ole problems rearing thier ugly head. Last year we couldn't seem to get the ball inbounds at times, and would have to call a timeout. Then the next thing ya know...BG would call a great play for an inbounds situation and we would get an easy score. Major inconsistency there.
Then free throws......don't need to say any more about that, I think.
And of course, PG's out of control and making silly turnovers at the absolute wrong times, as if any time is okay.
And then our offense seems so predictable that other teams seem to just lay back, and pack the paint, while we run a nothing type weave at the top of the key, and time forces us to take a bad shot, therefore wasting a possession.
I reviewed the posts from folks who attended the scrimmage the other night, and it seems that some of these issues are still very much in play.
My hope is, on the bright side, that we concentrate on this stuff in practice, and make them non-issues this year.

And if CW didn't go down, where do you think we would have finished last year?

We absolutely would have been on the dance, and who knows where from there. We made Pitt look silly, and I don't think that being ranked at #14 was fluke.

I don't think being picked third by those who know the A-10 makes us an "average to slightly above average team." I also don't think being the 7th best conference in the country last year out of over 30 conferences (the best non-BCS conference in the country) makes the A-10 "a somewhat above average conference."

I think we are prime candidates to be the latest example of the Ewing Theory at work:

We would have, should have danced last year....all we had to do was hit a couple free throws at the end of the LaSalle game and/or beaten GW.

i think the standard answer is where is the scoring coming from, knowing that BR has left the building. so, i'm not sure where or why he's so on. we could all say that.
knowing the program, we're pretty certain we're going to get good numbers from Wright and Marcus. there's at least 10 of Brians' points right there.
We prob. gained offense by JB graduating.
We should be gaining with Perry, CJ, PW, Lowery, Devin. some of these points were Sandovals.... question is how much can these guys provide us.
Main questions on O is how much Kurt and London get us. Same? improved?
And the free throw question. i see 2nd place highest, thru 5th as worst place scenario for us. barring injuries.
----------------------
we also should be gaining defense with Roberts departure.
