Just say'n
There should be an initial moral/ethical go-no-go threshold to be eligble. Use the tried and true NCAA Selection Criteria of a "sniff test".
Our guy just might move up a few slots.

Ron Harper would have been higher rated. And one of the assistants would have been in the top ten...just sayin'......

Ron Harper was pretty good, but I think you mean Ray Harper.

Archie Miller was better, based on results only up to this point. Better for sure than Penny Hardaway. Memphis was atrocious late last season.

21 seems about right. Many in front of him have been at their current positions much longer than three years. If all goes well, AG would rise if a similar list is developed in 10 years.

Last three years at IU didn't help AM's case as far as this ranking. Do this three year's ago while he was at UD and I'm sure he would have been ranked. But as it is he is probably one more so-so year from the unemployment line.

The article is ranking the best "hires", not the best "coaches". Archie Miller's time at Indiana is completely irrelevant to how good or bad a hire he was for UD. I think Archie Miller and Grant were both fantastic hires for UD.
To that point, I don't understand the list anyways. Why would they not count Brad Stevens or John Beilein, but they count Shaka Smart at VCU? I don't agree with the logic, but that is normal for me to disagree with random ranking articles.

They say anyone at the next level right now or in transit between levels (Donovan, Stevens, Beilein) were not included.

As I said, conduct the rankings three years ago AM probably makes the list as a good hire for UD. But as the ranking was done today, he would be ranked as a hire for IU and not ranked so well.

Shaka Smart was listed as a hire for VCU. Rick Pitino was listed as a hire for Louisville. Jamie Dixon was listed as a hire for Pitt.

If there was a list of stupid lists, I’d put this on the list at #21.

Exactly. This is the result of no sports for the past six weeks.
Next week: The Mount Rushmore of "Best Coaching hires"...

Exactly. In theory we could have had Archie and Grant on the list. If they deemed them both top 25 worthy. Just seems arbitrary to not include retired or NBA coaches, but they include coaches that moved on to other schools.

Archie's first 3 years at UD: 63-38 (26-22) - highest conference finish was 5th. Lowest finish was 11th.
Grant's first 3 years: 64-31 (39-15) with two top 3 finishes. Lowest conference finish was 9th. I think it's safe to add at least.....4 wins to AG's total this year (seems conservative). Not to mention a Coach of the Year award.
I'm trying to find any measurement where Archie was better in the first three years. The best I can do is that he made it to the Elite Eight - which was awesome - but Grant had a great opportunity to match or beat that this year - so I' m calling that one a draw.
I know Grant has the benefit of the 18-0 conference records this year, but he only needed to go 6-12 this year to beat Archie's first 3 years in conference (so, just be as good as LaSalle).

Just a bunch of reporters trying to keep their jobs during this no sports time and writing a lot of ridiculous articles.

Sure.
I suspect I’m not alone. I dutifully check out the site every day just hoping Xmas comes and there’s a “welcome to the family” thread.

I don't read 99% of the headlines that come across my phone. I only read this one because it was on UDPride...or is it DUPride???

I get juiced when I see a day on UDPride when there has been more than 100 posts since last evening. Usually means either we lost a player or gained a player at this time of year. Got to open up and check out the noise.
Or the political cat fight flared up due to some senseless revelation.
