Time to put Kyle Davis back in. D. Davis is a heck of a freshman, but he seems timid on dribble penetration...another strength issue.

Uconn getting every call right now. Rep is a good thing to have. If we can stay relevent in the future that will be us getting the benefit of the doubt.

That Hamilton kid for UConn looks like he has a bright future. I hope he doesn't follow his big bro, Jordan Hamilton's lead and become lazy and eat his way out of the League. If not, he could be a very very good college and pro player.

We have been the aggressor massively in this game driving to the hoop and going up strong down low -- should be way more than a +4 foul difference. They have gotten the ticky tacky outside calls.

We need much better point guard play when you have a stopper in the middle - need to penetrate and kick. We did very little of that today.

19-4 run to close out game and Dayton something like 3-17 to close the game in shots. Yikes, it happens, but really terrible way to finish.
The game was much closer than 10 points.

Oh well. Overall that wasn't a bad effort. The turning point was Scoochie's 4th foul. We looked confused with Davis running the point, and we never got our mojo back.

The game basically ended when we had the lead and Scoochie and Kyle Davis picked up their 4th fouls on ticky tack calls with 11+ minutes to go. That was all she wrote. After that we were forced to slow down the pace and stop attacking like we did in the first half. We just don't have the horses right now to overcome that kind of foul trouble.
Overall a decent effort and dare I say that with a full bench, the outcome might be different...

That's obviously the turning point of the game. Flyers had the lead at the time. And then the offense sputtered. We certainly missed Ryan Bass in this game. Would've been nice to have D. Davis playing the shooting guard when both KD and SS went out.

Scooch was bad when he was in there. DD has so much promise, but he isn't a PG and neither is KD. We need Bass back.

Great game by our guys. Hate that the final score fails to show the tight game that this was. That three block possession was the turning point, I believe.

What frustrates me is that this was a winnable game. We have our share of blame so we lost it, not the refs and Uconn I think wins 7/10 versus us. But momentum really shifted with foul calls on our guards.
Two of out of five on KD were literally phantom calls. He got hip checked by the screener (illegal screen) into Boatwright and a foul; others there was no touching and he might have grazed the jersey. Boatwright was more aggressive defensively with a lot of hand checking so I don't get it...

Only scored 6 points in the last 10:22. Foul trouble. Missed Bass. Asking D Davis to run the point against Boatwright in his third collegiate game is a bit much. Got into a half-court game and were not able to get the easy buckets that we got earlier. Still, I liked what I saw.

We also gave away 7 stupid points -- Fouled two 3 point shooters and they made 5/6 and the technical for 2/2.
Hard to overcome gifting the defending champs 7 points and scoring 6 the last 10 minutes of the game.

Shooting
...seems to me at some time in the last few minutes the announcer mentioned that Dayton had missed 11 of its last 13 shots. At the time we were down by about 8.
Hard to win shooting like that.
This was UConn's best game same far. The seven footer, Brimah, a soph, doesn't score much...but he surely makes his presence felt...alters the way teams have to play.

41 points in 1st half and 23 in 2nd. As noted, 17 in first 10 min of 2nd half and only 6 in last 10. When we got in foul trouble the offense just stopped.

UConn has Top-50 recruits and HS All Americans. They **should** win. I liked our execution for the most part. Once Scooch picked up foul #4 it was all over. I think UConn went nearly 10 minutes to end the game w/o committing a defensive foul. Just unheard of given how the new mandate is for officiating -- dare I say impossible.

Win the next game - whoever it is - and consider it a successful trip.

Can't go to sleep on the next one. If we get out of there 2-1 it will not have a negative effect. Need a win Sunday. The team has a lot of action to playback and critique. We gave away 15 points. Next!!

Yes, that was very bad, Pierre and Scott had inside position and allowed the UConn player to grab the rebound.
Inexcusable. Lazy effort on that play. Infuriating.

We were 3-14 on 3's. Sibert was 1-7 with some great looks. If he makes 3 more and Pierre makes a couple of foul shots, we could have been ahead looking back. Sibert is not shooting well three games in a row. Right now we have little outside threat outside of Scott at 15 feet.

3 things...
1. A season ago, this team was doing nothing right..defensively, offensively, your name it, we were awful! And I was there leading the charge...
Jump forward to this week and I see a completely different situation...ball movement is there, defense has weaknesses but not glaring holes...and we're dealing with injuries that in a month may not be a factor.
At full strength and effort - that we're getting - things look positive. But we need to get back to full strength.
2. Pollard is an animal. Give me more Pollard and less Robinson. Starting Sunday.
3. As I research ancient Egypt, Colonial America and the Civil War Era - my three favorite time periods of this world - the more I believe I would have been a much better Pharaoh than King or President.
Pharaoh out!

This is a good type of loss to have early.
Tells guys:
1) we can hang with quality teams
2) we got into foul trouble. With Bass back , and eventually Detwon we will have more fouls to give and more PG backup play. That will help the Scoochinator!
3) Looks like Pierre and Sibert carried us for a stretch, and then Pollard stepped up. Need some more guys to step it up.
4) I expect Kyle Davis, DD, and Scott to provide the help we need. Plus Bass and maybe something out of Robinson (not counting on that tho). DD just played against UConn in his third game.
These guys get it. They will be more ready and give us plenty more as the season progresses!
5) we won the board battle. Just need to finish on FT's and start hitting threes. I'm pretty sure that will happen.
6) Sibert needs to relax it sounds like. Once Scooch gets in gear, and Kyle and Darrell D, that should put less pressure on Jordan.
Coach Pitino Out!

And Jared Sullinger agreed with you: (his tweet)

The rule that allows a player to hang onto the rim to protect himself was made for exactly this situation. It was a terrible terrible call.

Watching live I agreed with you but upon further review I think he did a pull up and that drew the T. Plus, I think we got a makeup call on UConns possession.
