The Best

BEVERLY HILLS (MI) -- There can only be one “best” because as we all know second best just ain’t good enuf. Here’s the best stuff I could find for ya:

-- This is the best pre-season prediction you will see for the 2010-2011 University of Dayton Flyers anywhere. The Wall Street Journal has UD finishing in 1st place in the Atlantic 14 and sees them as a #7 seed in the Big Dance, ahead of X and Temple:

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000...496824012.html

-- The following is a list of the best writers, bloggers, Tweeters and websites in college hoops, courtesy of Ballin’ Is a Habit:

http://www.ballinisahabit.net/2010/1...edia-must.html

And yes, that was me that emailed BIaH and asked them to please add UD Pride to their list. Why do you ask?

-- These are the best HS senior hoopsters in the State of Michigan and where they are headed next year:

As a Michigan resident for the last 30 years, it warms my sneakers to see BG snatch two of the best hoopsters in the state for our alma mater.

-- Here is the best place to follow one of those two Michigan recruits, LaDontae “Buckets” Henton of Lansing Eastern HS:

http://www.quakerbasketball.org/

-- I realize that it’s faint praise indeed, but this is the best Xavier blog on the internet. It’s relatively new and thankfully doesn’t have a message board:

-- This right here is the best dunk you will ever see by a point guard…evah!

The fact that it came vs. LeBrick and the supposed “Big Three” of the Miami not-so-hot Heat just makes it that much sweeter.

-- Here is a snippet from the excellent ESPN All-Access “Training Days” special on the best in the business, Coach K, breaking down tape in the film room for his Duke Blue Devils squad:

I love me some BG, but how could you ever say ‘no’ to that man if he asked you to come and play for him at Duke? Something they mentioned in the special that I had never really thought about before is that all of Coach K’s assistants (Wojo, Chris Collins and Nate James) are former Blue Devils who played under him.

-- The Louisville Courier-Journal with a profile on the best reporter covering college basketball recruiting today (based on number of scoops), Evan Daniels of Scout.com:

http://www.courier-journal.com/artic...onal-obsession

-- This kid would have been the best freshman big man in the country this season, but to absolutely no one’s surprise, the NCAA declared him permanently ineligible:

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=5793192

-- Let’s just put it out there right now:

Joe Posnanski is the best writer in America right now.

Notice I didn’t limit it to “sportswriter”…I said writer. Exhibit A has absolutely nothing to do with sports, but instead deals with Bruce Springsteen:

http://joeposnanski.blogspot.com/2010/11/promise.html

-- And finally, the absolute best thing of all is that for the Dayton Flyer Faithful the 2010-2011 season, with all of its promise, is finally at hand. Here’s Jeff Goodman of Yardbarker with 68 things to watch for this year:

http://msn.foxsports.com/collegebask...-season-110710

And if you ask old 'Captain Optimism' here, all I can say is that the best is yet to come.

That’s it “From the Swamp.”

Swampy, you must have missed this masterpiece against the Knicks a week earlier:

What about London posterizing the Temple player 2 years back? That had to be the best PG dunk ever. Rando's would have been more impressive if the defense had at least attempted to slow him down. Lack of defense lowers the value of Rando's slam.
