SLU Match
This should be a 3-0 Flyer sweep. SLU still struggling with the lack of a clearly defined starting setter so they have switched to a 6-2. They have a solid MB and a freshman OH leading the team. But UD has more talent. Time to reboot this season and tear through the A10. Go Flyers.

26-24 Flyers in set 1. Pulled it out of our rear ends. Fought off a set point at 23-24. Played pretty sloppy until last 4 points. At 20 -21 we served into the net. At 22-23 we blew a set.

The sweep is alive. UD rallies to win first set 26-26. Also, Sierra Pla got in as a blocking specialist for a serve or two. That's great news. We need her. She got good experience as a freshman.

It's interesting how Coach Horsman plays that one out. It has been when UD has been down 2-3 points, late in a set, and Emmenecker is in the front row. I haven't personally seen us win a point in any of those situations, but I think one of the play-by-plays I saw had it work. Today, we lost each point she was in for.

Mckinzie is back but not game ready. Tim said the players are adjusting to losing, haven't experienced much in their careers.

Wow some officiating, one calls ball down but let's SLU play on for the point.

25-18 Flyers in set 2. I think that first set comeback sucked the air out of the Billikens. Let's get set 3 and get outta there.

Both Olivia and Sierra got a little playing time late in the 3rd set - which UD won easily - and both came up with blocks. Olivia got 1 and Sierra got 2. Nice!
1-0 in the A10 in a sweep. Love it. Moving on to next week.

Mckinzie also got in the 3rd set, served and returned a volly once. TH is really high on her, said in a scrimmage she was best player on the court. Then came the cyst and surgery. But she is back.
TH thinks SLU will be a contender by seasons end.
Also really excited about next two recruiting classes, feels well really be a solid top 25 contender.
Excited about Jamie Peterson as he said she was moved to left side and played all 6 rotations. Good things to come despite this year's injuries.

Sloo will get better. Cant ever count them out. There is some talent there, just havent found out how to play as a team. Beating them never gets old no matter what their record is. Did we get better tonight? Hard to say. But I doubt this a style points kind of Flyer team anyway. We have our own shortcomings right now. When this team sweeps on the road, we have to be satisfied w/that no matter the competition.

Horsmon gets his 400th win tonight. Like Chris said, it never gets old beating SLU, so pretty sweet it came at this venue.
Congrats!

The 2nd yellow at 0-0 was actually given at half time when TH gave them an ear full on their officiating. Don't know if you could hear the Dayton fans but they also were giving the officials an ear full. K
Like I've said several times I'm just a fan and don't always get it right, but sitting with family and friends of the flyers they saw the total inconsistencies by the officials....seems the one on the net opposite the one on the stand not once but several times over ruled or ignored the corner refs and gave points to SLU. One time TH held up.5 fingers to the official indicatin 5 bad calls....and that was just the 1st set.
TH just told the girls theyed just have to play through it and over come it.
Like I said he gave him an ear full at half resulting in the ylw card. The ref continued the same in set 4, fortunately the ladies were not going to have nothing to do with it and buried SLU.
