Since...
... it is just like old times on the MB with the rants of new members talking about TK, BG, recruiting... I thought I would post this from today's DDN. All you newbies can have fun with this one too. I'm surprised this has not been posted.

It wasn't in the newspaper just Chickys blog. The same goof ball that wrote in his blog earlier this year that BG to Marquette was a done deal according to his inside source.

Maybe Wright State could give away tickets to that game as well!

I was about to say that. If they give away tickets, I know I could get a good seat. Good seats and free tickets to the beatdown would be hard to pass up!

What does this have to do with anything? I get it that he is trying to slam UD's schedule but it does not make since the way he wrote it.
"I’ll say it a hundred times: I’d rather lose to an outstanding Illinois State team (like WSU did on Saturday night) than beat a mediocre Wofford squad (like Dayton did on Sunday night)."
My problem with this statement:
"That age-old argument that playing WSU, win or lose, would drag UD’s RPI down doesn’t fly anymore. Back-to-back 20-win seasons under Brad Brownell has put Wright State back on the map as a Horizon League power, while Dayton remains competitive in the Atlantic 10 Conference that’s dominated by Xavier."
If I knew BB would be there another 4 years I would say go for it. What happens if he leaves and UD is stuck playing them for an extended period of time and they stink again?

Well, we're in agreement. I would also rather play Illinios State than Wofford.

The arguement that WSU will steal Dayton fans is silly. I think the game would be great for the community. I think true Dayton Fans will continue to pull for Dayton and WSU fans WSU.
WSU will drag down our RPI? If WSU was on our schedule the last 10 years in 0 of the years would they have been the worst team on our schedule. In some years they may have been one of our better out of conference opponents.
Now I do agree that they would have an advantage over some of the other teams we play with a comparable RPI because they would be able to fill some seats in the arena. That just puts more pressure on Dayton Fans to buy up all the tickets.
Quick question. Do Dayton Fans hate WSU? Personally I always pull for WSU no matter who they are playing (I haven't had to worry about them playing UD). I may catch 1 game on TV each year when they are in the conference tournament or something like that. When I check the box score and see a win I think good for them.

Hey guys, remember that time Chick plagiarized from Wikipedia? Funny stuff...
Sorry, it might have been a low blow, but I felt it necessary considering he is obviously going to bring this crap up at least five more times this season.

You would need to compare WSU's RPI to our home and home opponents for this argument to hold true. WSU's RPI would be better than a lot of our "buy" games, but WSU isn't interested in a buy game.

"The Gem City Jam won the Academy Award, for greatest game never played" -- Chicky Bobby.
I am someone that pulls for WSU. I have a degree from WSU, and I have almost nothing but good memories of my time there (other than the parking ticket fiasco of 2002). I root for them, and attend a few games a year. UD will always be my team, but there's a spot in my fandom for WSU.
That said, WSU is just as guilty of not playing as UD. It's similar to the problem UD faces with most high majors. We desperately want to play them, but they only want a home game. Since UD is out to make money, they often look elsewhere for OOC games.
WSU would be on UDs schedule next year if they called and offered to come to UD on a one shot deal, I truly believe. If they truly want to play UD, they'd do it. That would open the door and eventually could lead to a series. But I don't think they want to play UD. They simply want a sell out every two years.

I think it is pathetic that Dayton Fans hate Wright State. That would be like saying that UCLA fans hate UC Santa Barbra. They aren't even in the same class. I look at WSU as the Walk-On that gets into the game the last minute of a blowout.
That was a really good point about comparing home and home team RPI's. I could be persuaded into changing my mind because of that.

I am actually not new but I forgot my old username/password. It may have been dtownflyer12, regardless I wanted a new name. I have been reading the boards and posting for at least 10 years (not saying that is a long time but almost 1/2 my life). I actually wrote and article that Schwabe? posted on the front page of the old website about the Villanova game a few years back.
