Fool's Gold - SMU
I don't even know where to start, so I'll let my minions take over from here.
So who's play cost My Team a victory this afternoon?? I mean, besides everyone.
Except the refs...

Voted Crutcher. Preseason All-American candidate’s most notable stats today were 5 TOs and 4 fouls. I voted for him for POG after the SLU game last year because he earned it. I voted for him today for the same reason. He’s better than this. He needs to prove it.

Agree that Crutcher was way off his game today. That said, we need a bench. I thought Mo gave us decent — not great — minutes, but if we can’t count on more than a bucket or two from the bench, we’re in a world of hurt. Hence my vote.

There was plenty of blame to go around but I voted for the bench. Two of them even were able to practice with the team last season and the freshman came in with all kinds of accolades. Time for them to start making contributions. Sure, Crutcher had a bad game but I do not like to call out one individual. He will right the ship in the next game.

Jablonski and Archdeacon were reluctant to ask about the lack of any contribution from Zimi or Blakney and the absence of Frazier for even a couple of minutes while giving minutes to a walkon. I don't know how these things work but you have to wonder if CAG has told them he isn't going to comment about the freshmen so don't ask. I wonder if we will ever know what the situation is with Frazier. Also, today CAG mentioned that Brea's injury is "upper body". Until today, it was reported he was unavailable due to a wrist injury. Why can't they be honest about the nature of injuries?

Crutcher. If Crutcher is Crutcher the last two games it's two double digit wins

I voted for Jalen. I had elite expectations for him this season, and so far, he has not even been mediocre.

Crutcher. Since I didn't know what to expect from the bench (being Sissoko, and the freshmen) I can't say one way or another if they are playing to expectations.
Crutcher is unfortunately not living up to the expectations based on last year and hype in pre-season.

The bench, with Crutcher and Chatman a close second. At least those two start and contribute. We can make all kinds of excuses for freshmen and redshirts, but we have to go back to the Oliver Purnell days to see such a bunch of zero young guys on the bench.
Just wait till one of our only five basketball players have an injury, covid or foul trouble... turn out the lights.

If My Team doesn’t pick up the pace of play and get some bench contributions, I’m going to be forced to submit a lot more Fool’s Gold Polls. Obi could carry My Team...Ibi can’t.

Not so sure Crutcher is who/what many expect of him. He's a very nice, finesse player that is very average athletically and is not physically strong. I've watched him multiple times already this year get bumped off his spot rather easily fighting thru screens to get open and he's never been a great ball handler that's going to get into the lane and go strong to the hoop and force the action when a big hoop is needed. Yes, I know he's hit a few big big deep 3's at the end of games but now they need a go to guy that has the ball in his hands in key possessions to score a bucket or get fouled.
Great tandem the past couple years riding with Obi and being his Robin and he really needs Chatman and/or somebody else to step up to take some of the pressure off him.
