RIP to Shocka's father
All
Sad news. Shocka's father passed away at the arena before the game. Absolutely gut wrenching as Mr. S was one of the kindest, most genuine people on the planet. I've known the family since HS and this is just devastating. The man gave his life to serving his community.
Suddenly the game results just don't matter. Prayers to Shocka and his entire family.
RIP Sir.....

Sadly witnessed the event.
Whoever it was that was with him fought tirelessly to bring him back. Unfortunately for man, God's hand is always stronger as He called him home.
Many prayers to the family.

I know every one means well when they say RIP, but Mr S is not resting, he is alive and well just in a different environment so to speak. It is we the living here on earth that are left behind and have a hard time adjusting to the void Mr. S left behind.
While Mr S no linger feels any pain it is we the living that feel the loss of one so close, prayers to the Shocka family as they morn the loss of someone dear and near.

WHIO is reporting that the Supt. of schools in Vanadalia Butler is the person that passed away, and that his daughter-in-law is the cheerleaders coach.
Did not realize who that was. Prayers to the family.

He is the School Board President, not the superintendant, so their is no confusion.
Prayers to the family, please let us know if anything we can do. The Vandalia and Butler Township community has lost a great leader who dedicated 40 years of his life to the community.

Sadly, I also was there to see the events unfold. Thoughts and prayers to Shocka and his family. There was a priest there rooting on George Mason who was going around offering to say prayers with UD fans. It was a nice gesture from him.

Thanks to all of you for the messages. While none of this will ever be easy, knowing that the last two days my family and my dad were able to be together doing what we love. Watching basketball with the occasional beer. My dad passed not 100 yards from Duquesne, where he played college basketball. We even had dinner with one of his dear Pittsburgh friends last night, rode the incline looking over the city, and were able to watch the Dukes with his best friend from college Wednesday night. He died as I went to grab us two Iron City Lights...the beer that hundreds of his stories in the Burgh undoubtedly started out with. The how and the why will never be understood, but I don't think my dad would have wanted anything different. Family, friends, and basketball.
The support from the University, friends, and strangers is greatly appreciated.

I don't live in the Vandalia area, but I happened to watch the game at the Frickers there. A guy I don't know at the next table got the news on his phone. He was in near tears as he explained to me what a fine man and community leader (former city manager, police chief and most recently school board president) Mr. Sucher was. Thoughts and prayers to Shocka and family.

Prayers to you and your family Brandon! I didn't know your Dad, but always got a chance to say hey to you at the games and our Northmont-Vandalia rivalry went way back in the mid to late 90s. If he was anything like you, he was a great individual.

Shocka:
Unfortunately we all have to go sometime and I'm glad that your dad went out doing what he loved with those that he loved. I was sitting right in front of your family on press row when it happened and posted in the game thread to let fans know that one of the Faithful was down and in bad shape.
It sounds like your dad led a full and purposeful life.
Thoughts and prayers.

It is not unfortunate that we all must go sometime, actually it's wonderful to complete your sojourn. But it is unfortunate for those we leave behind, an emptiness n void so hard to fill. It is at these times God pours out his love to those affected to comfort them in their loss.

It is only unfortunate if one doesn't live the life they should.
This world will be a much better place if we all live everyday like it's our last.
