Kendall Pollard, love him but...
in all my time of watching Flyers' basketball, which goes back to 1968, I have never, ever seen a player that has blown more scoring opportunities.
We can start with his FTs. He can be better, he's shown it for ranges of games both this year and last year. Yet, something happens and he resorts back to a 50 percent or worse FT shooter for the other range of games.
Then it's taking the ball inside. Too many times he is throwing up off balance shots when if he can't take it strongly to the hoop, he needs to kick it outside to the many open men that have been there waiting. He needs to play like Dyshawn Pierre more, but he never does.
I don't have the time to look but I believe he's missed about all his last 20 3 point shot attempts in which only a few have been at the end of shot clocks.
Add in the times(not as much lately) where he tries to take a rebound from one end to the other only to charge into 3 players waiting for him.
When it's all said and done, Kendall Pollard has been a real pleasure to watch for 4 seasons, his contributions are many and his positives certainly outnumber his negatives by a lot. But I still feel that this guy has left a lot of points on the floor(whether they were his own or an assist to someone else) and probably could've set himself up to be a first team all A10 if he would've learned from his mistakes more and did whatever he could do to make his FT shooting more consistent.

I think his success rate when he attacks the rim is pretty darn high. (counting success as a bucket or a foul)

I'll give you that. But again, if he throwing it up there off balance without a foul taking place, I find that unacceptable. Sometimes he's off balance because of a foul, but just the same, a lot of times he's off balance without one and that's where I have issues.

Pollard is like the guy who hits 50 home runs but bats .240 for the season. He swings hard and misses sometimes, but when he connects, he's a Beast.

In the first half, we shot a lot of fadeaways or terrible looking hook shots in the lane.

Lately, and lots of times he's been the guy who never takes a ball, even if it's bounced 10 feet in front of the plate.

In fairness to Pollard, he has had to play center instead of power forward, because we have no center, and guys like Williams and Miller, who are taller cannot begin to do what he does. Also look at Pollard's shooting stats, they are as good as most guys from two point range. Pollard had a bad day, give it a rest. The guy at 6'6" has saved our bacon many times.

Yeah, you're right Jack it's emotions taking over after one game. Kendall is a great FT shooter, always passes up an inside off balanced shot for an open 3 to his teammate and should shoot more 3s, not less.

I think Kendal is no more than about 70% of what he was prior to the knee injury last year. 2 years ago those little flips off the backboard were monster flushes... over the guy who made the mistake of trying to block it. His explosiveness is gone... now is often gets blocked.... not the same guy he was prior to knee injuries....
But a 70% Kendal is still an awesome player!

Your negative extremes can be countered. You are right Smitty, Pollard is not a D1 player, should never shoot and should not be starting, and should only play if the game is out of reach.

The funny thing is I never said any of those things now did I? You said it was just one game to counter my post. What part of my post only applies to the Davidson game?

Now that makes exactly zero sense and that's not hyperbole.

You didn't. When did I say, " Kendall is a great FT shooter, always passes up an inside off balanced shot for an open 3 to his teammate and should shoot more 3s, not less?"
Over and out on this topic.
