WTH is wrong with Jalen's outside shot??? As I mentioned in the game thread, when he guarded Bones that whole VCU game, he wore down and started launching airballs and bricks that only got backboard. Since then it's like he has no confidence in it anymore. And that leads to not getting the open dribble drives. 4 offensive fouls today and I have to believe it's because they aren't worried about him shooting the 3. And if I'm correct, he shot exactly zero of them today.

I went with Ibi. He had a few key baskets and 1/2 free throws down the stretch. That basket interference call on his breakaway was big.

Was anyone else as impressed with that shot he made fading out of bounds after the shot clock expired on the Flyers' final possession. I know it didn't count and it was his fault that he bobbled the pass from Rodney inside, but man it was a fantastic shot and caught all net.

Yep, probably the least annoying color announcer I've heard this season. Don't remember her saying anything about the Flyers where I had to roll my eyes like calling Jalen "big and strong".

Jordy. He kept Osunniyi from destroying us inside and kept the middle clogged up, allowing us to close out on shooters—- unlike the St. Joes fiasco, just sayin coach Grant!

Team effort. No single player won us the game. But I gave Blakney my vote because he is revealing a skill set that’s really going to help us down the stretch and for the next few seasons. He is a player!

Ibi hands down with his steady play on both ends. Second a tie between Blakney and Mustafa.
Funny stuff in the poll. Mustafa and Blakney put up the same stats, but Mustafa in a lot less minutes and Blakney out votes him 10 to 1. Check the voting machines.

It’s more than just stats. Blakney was hustling all over the place. The ball he kept alive between 2 Bona players late in the game was the most hustle I’ve seen from any Flyer all year.

Second game in his career where he didn't shoot a 3 pointer. In the 2018-19 season, he didn't shoot any 3s against Massachusetts on February 26, 2019. UD won 78-24, and he had 10 points. Obi with 19 and Cunningham with 18 to lead the way.

Yet, no love for the leader in plus/minus with a +15 in just over half the game, because he had 4 offensive fouls, and an extra one to foul themselves out of the game.

Didn't see the game.
Did Crutcher disagree with a coaches direction to back off on threes? So he pounds into the lane and ends up with a slew of charging calls?

Perhaps. But no less than two of the fouls were either blatant flops with little/no contact. That being said (Jalen), seniors usually adjust to the way the game is being called. Jalen did not do that.

As Rollo said, weird game indeed. Among the anomalies: Crutcher fouling out with only six points, 20 turnovers, Ibi and Jalen a woeful 4 of 9 at the stripe, 60 SBU shots to only for 44 for Dayton. All that and the Bonnies’ Osunniyi comes within a whisker of a triple double — 10 points, 15 rebounds and 7 blocks. Yet we win. Very strange.
Oh, and then Richmond loses at home to St. Joe’s.
Weird game ... even weirder season. Had we beaten Fordham, LaSalle and Rhody on the road, as we should have, we’re 12-4 in the league, outright A-10 champs, and probably safely in the dance. Oh well. It is what it is.

And Zimi didn’t have much of a game today, but he’s definitely had some positive moments this season as well. Give Brea some more time to develop, and we have a foundation. Add next year’s recruits into the mix, and we’re building something special here.

A friend texted after the game and I had to say, she actually didn't bother me. Nearly every announcer does. The highest praise I can give for an announcer.

It seems their guards were coached to attack 3 point shooters and dare them to try to score at the rim. Hence the 7 blocks.

And the single worst call by an official all season. It was Kent Hrbek-esque. Rollo will defend the traveling call as "clearly the right call". It was catastrophically bad.

I guess we will NEVER see the Flyers foul with a 3 point lead and the clock running down.
We dodged a bullet tonight when they missed a good look 3 just before the clock ran out.

He’s been a very poor year. One can’t attribute his shot to the margin of victory. Then it follows that his misses in prior losses cost us those games? If he had not played all year we never would have missed him. He has been a virtual cipher this year and contributed nothing. I have no doubt that we’re he not on the team, that our record would be no different. Don’t think that could be said of any other player.

I have to say that I loved Blakneys hustle in this game. Every winning team needs a hustle guy. How many times in the past did Trey Landers or Kyle Davis save our bacon when the rest of the team was lethargic?
