Nothing to be ashamed of...

Great tourney and season way beyond expectations. The kids and coaches deserve all the credit in the world.

Took 'em down to the wire with 7 players. VCU went 10 deep. What an effort. A few shots fall here and there and we were right there. These Flyers do not fold.

That was a great game between two very good teams... tough turnover in the last minute but oh well let's make some noise in the tourney!

Go 4/12 from 3 instead of 2/12 and we win (game would have changed). All open looks. D Davis needs some confidence for the NCAA.

Loved how they played.

They just couldn't hit a three to save their life.

Proud to say I am a flyer fan.

Only silver lining(slight chance) that we get knocked out of the 8/9 seed lines to a 10. I doubt it, but that would be sweet if it happens.

After taking a few deep breathes and putting into perspective, this loss does not really mean much if at all just a trophy. Tough loss but there is more basketball to be played. we'll take the championship next year anyway. Give VCU credit win 4 games in 4 days, great momentum into the tournament and I hope they win a few games in the tourney. The A10 will be well represented with these three teams. GO FLYERS

Even with this lose it's nice to see all the accolades rolling in for our Flyers...
a team that added a well-earned spot in Flyer lore.

Proud of the team as it is, but let's not pretend this game was unimportant. This was for an A-10 tournament championship. That's the goal: tournament championships (regular season and tournament), NCAA berths, and advancing in the NCAA.

Before tipoff I was going to post that the key to the VCU game would be DDavis' shooting...but pulled the post because I didn't want to jinx him.

FAIL!

Great A10 season and tournament, especially considering the manpower circumstances. Now, it's time for the moneymaker. Time for the NCAA tournament.

May work out better for us, don't want an 8 or 9 seed. Don't think committee will put us in the play-in game, but I want to see us playing a 3, 4 or 5 in the first round. Archie and the gang will find a way to win, and the lower our seed the easier our second round game will be.

Edit: May be out of my mind, but I don't see us losing to anyone albeit a #1 seed. We can beat anyone as far as I'm concerned. We will make the Sweet 16 or better.

How big was that three they hit before the half from 40 feet away...
Yes, we could have made more threes. But they could have made more FTs, too. Someone had to lose, two evenly matched teams. They will be an 8-9 and we will be a 9-10.

I didn't mean to say it was meaningless game, however, I don't feel like losing is a huge deal. I did not expect to even be in this spot even going into the tournament to be honest. I thought we would just be too tired to take down 2 teams in 2 days. St Joes won it last year and didn't do much. We did not and made the E8. Just in my opinion performance in the NCAA tournament is more rewarding and I would rather have a tourney run than a A10 championship. That is just my opinion, may not be the popular one i am not sure. Lets rest up and win a few this week.

Agreed...and the word "ashamed" didn't even enter my mind. What a season - better than ANYONE had a right to believe would happen
Been a long time since we've had someone who could go to the basket as well as Scoochie does.
Well done, gentlemen!

I agree with you. But the reason this hurts so bad, is this team of all teams, deserves a championship. Would've really been nice to see a banner in the arena with the years 2014-2015 on it. All the off court issues and just 7 players, they're champions in my heart.

7 players playing 3 straight days = pretty impossible

But dang they played hard and almost pulled it off.

I thought the VCU game was their best played game of the tournament. Might have something to do with the physical play of Bonaventure and Rhode Island that made them look bad.

VCU looked so different than the game in Richmond. They had their mojo back and UD hung with them for 38 minutes. The team played hard and did everything they could to win. You have to admire their intensity, will and desire.

Three things hurt them today:
1) Missing 3s. If Darrell or Scoochie hit just one 3, the offense opens up
2) 3 defense. All 3 opponents in the tournament shot too high of a 3 ball percentage
3) Defense down the stretch. No stops. As well as Scoochie played on offense, he was beat a lot on D. Hard to carry a team on both sides of the court.

In December, everyone would be thrilled with finishing 2nd in the regular season and tournament and being minutes away from winning both.

I posted a few weeks back that stats show our 3pt shooting away is significantly lower than at home--almost 40% vs 31%. Unfortunately, 31% might have won it for us today.

It was a great season. Maybe it will be a greater post-season tournament.

If I were a mid-pack seed, I would not want to play the Flyers.

Congratulations to the whole team and staff.

I'm sure if anyone had posted that they expected this it would have been met with "I would like some of what you are smoking" or "You aren't being realistic comments"

Hope the team can be well rested when they play again
