GW away game/seating
Anyone been to GW (Smith Center) for a game? Headed to DC after Wednesday's VCU game to visit son and go to the GW game. Looks like endzone section 221 is near the visitors bench. Other option is across the floor opposite benches. Plenty available seats via GW tix at both locations.

We sat in the end zone seats many years ago. Get the seats across the floor. The end zone seats are accessed from an upper level. They don't stretch all the way down to courtside.
FYI Larry hates broadcasting from GW. They get stuck in a corner on the end zone side. Also, GW students are generally obnoxious. Avoid them.

Sat behind the Flyers bench (8 rows up) two years ago and will never go back to GW. In fact, I said I would not hire any GW graduates since that game. But the seats were good.
Fans were absolutely obnoxious, making sexual statements to UD fans in their 60s/70s, offering to fight the entire Dayton team, etc., etc., etc. We asked security to intervene, but they said they were not empowered to do anything?!!???
To top it off, fans stormed the court and one hit Sibert and Jordan was pulled away from decking the kid.
Think they have banned the students from behind the basket, but seriously it was so bad, I cannot explain it fully and I have a high tolerance for trolling which if done well, I respect.

Does the outside of the Smith Center look like a gym or arena?
I was in DC a couple years ago touring the area, and I think I saw a sign for the Smith Center, but the building looked like any other academic building in that area. I was not sure if that was where they played basketball.

Basically blends right in and looks like any other building. I think they do sometimes have graphics in the windows on one side, but besides that it could be any normal building.

I was in DC on business once, and after getting off at the Metro at Foggy Bottom, we walked towards the Lincoln Memorial, and it was until after I turned around and looked the letters on the building, I was like, "Oh, I'm pretty sure that's where GW plays basketball."

I remember (albeit very fuzzy) going about 12 years ago when we lost - the incredible late season collapse. I do remember it being nearly impossible to locate the building, and even the locals were not familiar with the place. Large high school gym was my impression. We started out in the balcony seats where I did my best to get into their best player's head prior to and during the game (Diggs). But I think I just made him made because he destroyed us. We ended up moving down to first couple rows across the court from benches because there were so many empty seats. GW was not great that year but Mike Jarvis was being inducted into their HOF that night.

I was there for two buzzer beater losses. One of those heaves happened as I was getting escorted out of the building for arguing with an opposing fan. Well, it was really my ex-wife getting loud with him, but whatever.
