Glen Clark - I'm confident that CSM doesn't have Dayton in their top 144, that's what I'm confident in.
Mich Flyer - I'm confident Dayton is rated #48 and is listed to be in the NCAA Tournament.

According to their Bracketology page UD is the last at-large team to get into the tournament. I assume they think UD will win a "home game" at the First Four?

To tell the truth, I thought I was being wildly optimistic when I said 47. I was almost ready to accept I was off by an even hundred...
Nice to see the Flyers and "NCAA tournament" on the same page.
I realize, though, it's no sure thing.
After thinking more about it, Defense with a capital D is my only concern. (That and Pixie Dust to cover breaks, chemistry and health.)
If Archie can motivate the team to realize that the best offense is triggered from solid defense we may have ourselves an NCAA team this year.

Or maybe what udflyerhoops2 meant to say is that although UD has a habit of starting out as top 25 or NCAA team, they tend to end up much closer to #144 by seasons end.
Well anyway, based on CSM's calculation/prediction of #48 and the 12 seed, that has First Four UD Arena Game written on it. Interesting, but in many ways you hope that doesn't happen, as you hope for a season leading to top 8 seed, but will take what we can get. Unless it was beating Xavier or UC in First Four Game, that would be super exciting.

Last year ticks me off. That was the year. That should have been the breakout, we had the PG, the big man, the pieces were there. That was an NCAA team. . . and then there was Kav's actions.
This thread, in my opinion, should have been all about how we'll build on our success from last year's NCAA team, and how long can we hold on to Archie. (And sure that discussion would have been premature, but still fun when it happens.)
But instead, here we are again, right on the cusp, hoping to avoid a key injury, looking to finally gain traction. Wondering when we'll get our break, when the commitment will finally meet the result.

This is why they play the game. To heck with rankings, 4 stars, 3 stars, 5 stars, projections, etc...
Work hard, play hard, and beat the snot out of guys on the floor.
These guys are deep...no doubt. But it is time to put it all together and use that depth to their advantage and wear teams down, run efficient offense, rebound, and toughen up on D.

What I enjoy the most about this preseason ranking is that our departed brethren (Everyone of them...Butler, Charlotte, Temple and Xavier) are ranked below us. Now if we execute this year could be fun.

Just wondering how you arrived at that conclusion? Couldn't a team like #13 seed Belmont have been awarded an at large bid after #12 Dayton?
And the USA Today bracketology is down to the #8 seeds, but they still haven't picked an A10 team yet. I wonder if that means that they are projecting only 2 A10 teams, probably VCU and SLU, to make the tournament?
A #8 seed or better for presumably Dayton, LaSalle, or UMass seems pretty strong. According to last year's A10 results, the third place team in the A10 would have to be at least rpi #40 or better to get a #8 seed.
Last year's A10 NCAA teams:
slu rpi #16, #4 seed
vcu rpi #25, #5 seed
butler rpi #22, #6 seed
temple rpi #41, #9 seed
lasalle rpi #46, #13 seed
And I'm not sure how they are assigning the 6 #16 seeds, I only see 4 #16 seeds so far, and the 5 #11 and the 5 #13 seeds, I only see 4 of each of those so far.

They probably have Belmont receiving the automatic bid from their conference.

UD is the only team in the bracketology page that is not a #1 team from their conference which would imply they are an at large team and thus, you could argue their pick for the last team in.

Flyers hypothetically matched up with FSU in an opening round 12v12 tilt. Looks like UD, UC, FSU, and Team Z (I won't use the third to last letter to avoid confusion with a bunch of cheese eating surrender monkeys) are the last four in.

Wow - so hypothetically, if we make it to the Elite 8, and Wright State makes it to the Elite 8, we will finally get the cross town rivalry on. I'm surprised Archdeacon hasn't written an article on it yet.

Top 25 countdown might be interesting
http://www.collegesportsmadness.com/article/7556
Starts with Wisconsin and an interesting analysis. Talks about the experience coach is losing and reloading with a 6 player Freshman class. Then calls Wisconsin a "veteran" team. Why?
Because they have two good Senior guards and always one of the best defenses in the nation. Calls them an NCAA team. Very interesting and proven formula that has withstood the test of time. Works for them every year it seems.

I haven't checked this in a while. It looks like SLU dropped in at #21. Which will put VCU in the top 20, well actually top 15 since that is where they are in the ranking.
