For those of you that watched channel 7 Mike Hartsock is retiring. I believe it has been 38 years. Happy retirement.

Good job, Mike. Best of luck.
Man, if he's 65, I must really be old!

A little over 30 years ago Hartsock was rude, crude and nasty to this poor college student on more than one occasion as I was working for a small town newspaper photographing and reporting on local high school basketball and football games. God forbid I would be standing in "his spot" when he walked into the gym.

Anytime someone retires after a long career it is noteworthy. So best wishes.
Was never a Hartsock fan due to his verbal assault on the game flow. Listening to him was a tiring affair.
"Check that" was used to rename the player incorrectly called or a player's number or score misspoken.
But he presented sports at all levels to the locals. So I'm sure he will be missed.

I actually worked with Mike for quite some time. I think he may have been difficult in his early days. But trust me, he has really mellowed out over the years. Mike was a great mentor to me, and a friend for many years. His coworkers universally love him. He was never too big to do the little things and help out the newsroom when called upon. He'll be missed.

Glad to hear he mellowed out.
You do have to give a guy credit for sticking around for 38 years. I can not stand the grass is always greener attitude many employees have these days.

38 years at channel 7. I am 39 years old. He was the voice of Friday Night Football when my team at Centerville made a playoff run my senior year in 1998 (back when it was still only 4 per region). The voice of news for a sports loving kid growing up. Met him a few times, was always minor and congenial. I wish him well on his retirement and thank him for the memories.
