This has been the most unwatchable basketball game I've seen in a long time. I'm glad we're winning and all, but I'm asking myself what the heck I just spent the past 2 hrs doing.

So if this was a close game.... Khari woulda gotten his 8 to 10 minutes.
scott would have had 4 rebounds and fewer minutes.
Oliver and Vee both good games.
Derenbecker got more minutes. Three of these guys haven't played very much. Any time they get more minutes, it helps a mile down the road - our next games ARch will have more confidence in them and they in their D1 game.
a bunch of eyesores in the game in second half but game was over and it's important players get more minutes if you're gonna count on them as the season moves on.

Price had 26 min. We shot 38% in the 1st half, 44% for the game. Shot 45% from the line 9 for 20. Granted the 1st half was a bit unusual, but I also didn't see a lot of confidence building. NIU was just plain awful in the 1st half. Played better in the second half. I am afraid that against good teams we just don't have enough.

If this were a close game it would be even worse, although I assume you mean against a better opponent. Yeah, it's great Priice got 26 minutes, Scott and Derenbecker got minutes. But this should have been a 50 or 60 point blowout as bad as NIU played. The Walloons should have got 6 minutes.
The critiques are taking what we have seen (in person generally) and extrapolating it forward. Manhattan isn't good, Weber is better than many think, and Naiau is the worst team I have ever seen in D1. Much worse than the worse JOB team. And Auburn and BC are awful. That 5 game stretch paints a bleak picture.
As someone posted about all you can say is NIU is they fight for loose balls.

Me too, but not for my seats. I bought four extra tickets for my nephew who came from Florida for his first UD game since he graduated 15 years ago. I saw him at halftime and didn't know what to say.

Worst two hours in a basketball arena in my life. At least it wasn't Fridays 37 to 36 debacle in Washington.

Flyer teams traditionally play to the level of competition, so I expect a much better game on Wed. At least I was able to breathe tonight and didn't pine for tranquilizers.
I cheered when NIU finally scored the last 3 pts in the 1st half. Poor things! Really pitiful. I agree, though, we should have been up by a lot more.
Glad the walk-ons got in, but expected them sooner.

I think we play to the level of our competition when the competition is less than us. Lets see what these flyers have on Wednesday, could be an ugly game for us.

It was nice to see Jon Borovich hug Oliver, Dillard and Benson during the hand shake line after the game.

Dayton had a thirty point lead in the second half, but it should have been fifty.
Now I'm going to stomp around the house claiming somebody pi$$ed in my oatmeal.

So you must have not been around during the O'Brien years?? We saw this type of basketball routinely in the early 90s. I try to block out those 4-26 and 6-21 seasons, but...

I was. And it worse than those games in my opnion. The only difference is the side of the score UD was on. I didn't say it was the worst I have ever seen UD play, although Dillard did manage an undefended 10 count.

Nothing was worse at the Arena then when UD lost to Divsion II Missouri St Louis 66-63 during O'Brien's 4-26 season. Heck, we even lined up on the wrong side of the court at the start of the second half and gave them an uncontested layup.
The sickest feeling I ever had at the Arena was losing to WSU at home in 1990. At least we turned it around later that year.

The Mo StL is one game I am glad I dud not see. Or maybe that would be the worst two hours of basketball.
But I want to watch a good basketball game. The fact that it was UNI playing worse than those UD teams and UD playing worse than the opponents mopping the floor with UD doesn't improve it's standing in my mind. Watching Louisville beat UD by 50 was better basketball. At least the Cards played well.
