Per JHG722 on the A10 board:
http://www.basketballforum.com/atlan...10-2011-a.html
I'll be a lot more brief. If any Temple fan wants to go in depth, go for it.
Losses:
G Ryan Brooks
G Luis Guzman
Additions:
WF/G Aaron Brown 6'5 200
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketb...n-Brown-105265

Brown comes from St. Benedict's, which is the #2 high school team in the country. He held his own against top notch competition. He was underrecruited despite all of this, probably due to being overshadowed by teammates Myck Kabongo (Texas), Sidiki Johnson (Arizona), and Mike Poole (offers from UConn and Marquette and probably more). Second leading scorer for St. Benedict's.
PF/C Anthony Lee 6'9 215

Long, lanky big man from Orlando. Was really, really under the radar until the end of his junior year or so. Very much in the mold of Lavoy Allen. Can really do it all. Has had several games of 20 points, 20 rebounds, 10+ blocks. Hopefully will fill out more than Lavoy did, once he enters a college weight program.
Lastly is 6'8 220 F Chris Clarke, who redshirted this past year after transferring from SMU and a junior college. Has mad, mad hops, but I dont really know much about his game.
Projected starting lineup:
G Ramone Moore
G Juan Fernandez
WF Rahlir Jefferson
F Micheal Eric
C Lavoy Allen

Temple Owls
Last Season: 29-6 (14-2)
Key Losses: Ryan Brooks, Luis Guzman
Head Coach: Fran Dunphy
Projected Starting Lineup
PG: Juan Fernandez 6-4 Jr.
SG: Ramone Moore 6-4 Jr.
SF: Rahlir Jefferson 6-6 So.
PF: Lavoy Allen 6-9 Sr.
C: Michael Eric 6-11 Jr.
Key Reserves: Scootie Randall 6-6 Jr. SF, Aaron Brown 6-4 Fr. SG, Anthony Lee 6-9 Fr. PF, Craig Williams 6-9 Sr. PF
Temple is coming off its most successful season in the post-John Chaney era. In Fran Dunphy's four years as head coach for the Owls, he has led his team to the NCAA tournament three times, winning the A-10 tournament championship in each of the last three years. Last season, the Owls won 29 games, went 14-2 in conference play, and were ranked in the top 15 in the country. With all but two key players returning, the Owls look to repeat that success in 2010-11.

Every time I watch our offense, I wonder why only the 5 spot sets picks up top. That completely eliminates them from a potential offensive rebound.
When DS got called for the moving pick, he had establised good position and the wing did not throw it to him. We just won't take it inside.
Let's hope we get a lot of transition baskets.

We already know what will happen in the 2nd half, which is great since OSU is on at 2.

Why is Devin Oliver taking shots in this big of a game when he hasn't really shot the ball all year?

I have no problem with him shooting. You can't have it both ways and say play the freshman if you then tell them not to shoot.

I wasn't one of the one's screaming for them (him) to play more.

I didn't mean you personally. I should have been more clear. I meant "you" collectively. Many on this board have wanted the freshman to play more and be more aggressive.
I still don't have a problem with Olivers shots. They were good shots and were open. He just missed them.

Dickie Simpkins is great. 3rd time today that he's said the Flyers still have an opportunity to position themselves for a tournament bid. If there's 15 other guys like him, all sitting in the same room in Indy in a month, I like our chances.
In the meantime, I'd like some of what he's smoking.

I am afraid we don't have the offensive skills to make up a 10 point deficit - especially with only getting 21 in the first half.

A 10 pt deficit never used to feel this huge. But I have little faith that this team can make up a double digit deficit given their scoring woes (and yes, I remember the comebacks they've had earlier this season. This is not that same team).

Temple passes the ball to get an open shot - we try to go 1 on 3 to score.

Defense is the problem this half. Temple shooting nearly 60%.

We are a bad offensive team. Effort has been there just can't shoot the ball.

Dickie Simpkins just said that for the Flyers to get back into this game, they'll have to make the rim much bigger.
Pretty much sums up our season and our team.

Good thing Allen isn't playing for Temple or it might be uglier than it already is for UD.

I really thought we'd keep this game in single digits. We're going to get blown out at home. Simply unacceptable.

Temple doing whatever they want. Almost embarrassing what they're doing on their offensive end of the court. Any shot they want, they can get. "Let's see, WHICH wide-open shot do we want?"

In the time BG has been at the helm, what team has collectively improved from beginning to end of a season, or what players individually have shown even modest development from the beginning to the end of their UD careers?
This to me is how a good coach is measured.

Here is your go small lineup and 1-3-1 zone.
CW at center plus spearman, Oliver, CJ, and JS.

I assume you're talking about the fumbled away rebound that's converted for a wide-open layup?

I really hope witnessing this game will shut all the kool-aid drinkers up about 'being on the bubble'. UD is nowhere near a tourney team and it's baffling to me why people would think otherwise.

Again, why don't we press full court and trap? We're athletic enough to do it well.

need to run a press like st johns does, they cause numerous turnovers and if anything causes teams to work the ball up the floor. our press is a joke

I've been begging for that for three years now. I've given up hope Flyer. And how about that excellent sense if urgency on offense!!!??? Clueless.

I agree. I have seen a lot of that today. The fact that we had 1 assist at half and only 7for the game at least according to Gametracker is indicative of that.

It's very simple. There are 3 more teams added to the NCAA. Doesn't that mean UD is now on the bubble? They have been on the outside (just) looking in for so many years if you believe the "experts."

Worse is an understatement. No confidence in their shots was something I saw today. There are arguably more athletic members on UD's team this year than passed but there are not enough basketball players to utilize the talent. Recruiting basketball talent is what UD needs to look for now more than athletic players.

Was @ The Arena from start to finish today. The best the offense looked was in the first 3 minutes & the last 3 minutes of the 2nd half. 1st 3 - CW driving the lane and kissing it off the glass. Last 3 - whoever had an open 3 was (generally) squaring-up & firing away. Otherwise, it was a series of off-balance shots coming off The Weave (leaning/fading left or right, shoulders not squared-up, etc.).
Sorry, but to me The Weave looks like a pre-game warm-up for The Globetrotters - lots of people movement, little ball movement. All the opponent's defense needs to do is clog the lane and wait for an off-balance pass to the wing, where the shooter has to move out of spot-up position to get the ball, which gives the defense a chance to catch-up to the ball movement, which makes the shooter adjust the shot, which makes the shot miss the target. And if I just designed a defense to beat UD, you know coaches with the pedigrees of Dunphy & Baron can do it (with their eyes closed, while they're sleeping).
The guys generally fought till the end today - they just didn't have a chance from the start.
So! Going to see the Groundhog?!
Let's try again @ Charlotte.
