All of these....common point? Last time we played them, we won.

Not to mention others who were once elite and we beat last time we played them: Maryland, Illinois, Wake Forest.

We've also recently beaten Gonzaga, New Mexico, Cincinnati, Cal, Ole Miss, Creighton. With all the in-conference CF's we have had in the past, we really do have an impressive group of non-conference wins to hang the hat on.

That Elite 8 run finally provided us the return we yearned for. We have to take advantage now that outsiders actually care who we are.

An article in the local paper Sunday discussed benefits of championships and otherwise successful haappenings like UD's Elite 8 run. The impact of such events has been studied by researchers at various univerities.

Their bottom line is that there are benefits in a number of obvious areas. But, you've got to act fast...the "glow" is transitory' doesn't last long.

In my opinion, UD's most significant benefit may be enhancing AM's ability to recruit in the very near term...as in "now". If he can strengthen the program a bit more than would have been the case, that's the best insurance that UD's Sweet 16+ runs will not be generational events.

It's noteworthy, indeed, painfully obvious, that the terrific PR UD received was in large measure because our performance was unexpected and so very long in coming. Had either Xavier or Gonzaga made the Elite 8 those programs would not have been accorded anywhere near the great press UD received.

While that press was nice,...more than nice...the position we want to be in is for an Elite 8 run by UD not to be viewed as a miracle. Making the Dance at least half the time and the Sweet 16 relatively often requires a steady flow of good players.

Hopefully, the great show our guys put on is proving beneficial to AM as we speak (type? write?).

There are five conferences recognized as "power" conferences. Not all the teams in those conferences are top-tier programs. Nonetheless, I think it's significant whenever we play and defeat a team from one of the five conferences....still referred to as BCS by many.

Of course, there are top-tier programs in other conferences as well, e.g., a few teams in the American, the new Big East, etc.

Just opinion.

The Robins School of Business is one of the Top-20 business schools in the country. Nickname is the Spiders and are fellow A10 Conference members.

	St Bonaventure SAINT BONAVENTURE Founded in 1858, St. Bonaventure University is a liberal arts college located on 500 acres in southwestern New York state. SBU offers 43 undergraduate majors, the most popular of which are elementary education, journalism, psychology, accounting, marketing, finance, and management. Total undergraduate enrollment is 2,000. Virtually all freshmen and most undergraduates live on campus. A founding member of the A10 Conference. Famous athletes include Bob Lanier. Historical nickname was the Brown Indians, but later changed to the Bonnies. Their mascot is a wolf.

	Rhode Island RHODE ISLAND The University of Rhode Island was chartered as the state's agricultural school in 1888. The school became the Rhode Island College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts in 1892. Located in southern Rhode Island, URI is a quintessential New England campus - rural in feeling yet close to the city of Providence, the state's capital. Linked to the city, the beaches, and nearly every corner of the state by both rail and public transit, the campus is easily accessible from Boston and New York URI currently offers 100 majors in seven degree-granting colleges. 	St Joseph's ST. 	Fordham FORDHAM Fordham University is an independent Jesuit university established in 1841 as St. John's College on old Rose Hill Manor in the village of Fordham, then part of Westchester County in the Bronx, NY. The name Fordham is derived from the Anglo-Saxon words "ford" and "ham," meaning a wading place or ford by a settlement. Rose Hill is the name given to the site in 1787 by Robert Watts, a wealthy New York merchant, in honor of his family's ancestral home of the same name in Scotland. I don't know if this exists but I have always wanted to see the W/L record of UD vs. all the Division 1 opponents. The Media Guide has had this for the teams played that year but not all teams.

My son and I went to that game, as it was scheduled at the same time as our trip back home that year. I planned on buying two tickets in the parking lot and I was successful. Such a wonderful memory for me.
